Mobile Confidence Down but Positive
Thanks to Strong Sales Expectations
Second Quarter 2016 Outlook
ABCI Mobile lost 2.1 points to 55.2 looking ahead to the second
quarter of 2016. This is almost four points lower than a year ago.

60.0. While 60 percent of executives in the survey anticipate
stronger sales than last quarter, just 17 percent forecast a decrease and 23 percent expect sales similar to last quarter.
At 57.1, the profits index is down 2.5 points but remains quite
positive. Only 23 percent of panelists expect to see lower profits
this quarter. A still strong 51 percent expect higher profits, while
26 percent expect profit levels to remain steady.
The outlook for hiring is down just 0.4 points to remain easily
positive at 53.6. Most - 46 percent - expect to hire at the previous
quarter’s pace and over 34 percent anticipate stronger job creation. Only 20 percent of panelists anticipate slower hiring.
Capital spending growth may slowly decline. The area index of
49.3, down 4.7 points, is in neutral territory. Almost 63 percent of
panelists forecast steady investment levels and 20 percent expect
to increase spending, while only 17 percent anticipate decreased
spending for the second quarter.
