Fall 2011 Is your baby sleeping safely?
Each year, more than 4,500 babies die from sudden
infant death syndrome, also known as SIDS. Many
of these deaths happen while the baby is sleeping and
cannot breath. Here is how you can keep your little
one safe:
Make sure your baby sleeps safe
by learning your ABC’s! Alone– Baby should always sleep alone! Babies should
never sleep with toys, pillows, stuffed animals, or loose
sheets. To keep baby warm, use special sleep clothing like
a one-piece-sleeper.
Lower risk of SIDS. Put baby to sleep Alone, on their Back, and in a Crib B
ack– Baby should always sleep on his/her back!

Make Time for “Tummy Time”!
Tummy Time is good for baby. It helps make their back, and neck
strong! Tummy Time can also keep baby from getting flat spots on the
back of their head. Make sure baby has tummy time 2 to 3 times a day
when:
