PA - Get LINKed In Engaging Students Throughout Their First Year

 LINK
Learning and Interacting with New Knights
University of Central Florida
Quick Facts
LINK is a program designed to get students out of their rooms and engaged with UCF. We want
students to become aware of their campus resources, have fun, and become successful Knights.
Around 40 campus partners offer programs all year long and promote their events via LINK.
o To be able to advertise on our website and other social media outlets, campus partners submit
their event to our website and we either approve or deny the request (events will almost always
be approved)
o Programs must be free, open to all students, held on campus and have attendance tracked in
order to become a LINK program
o Programs should be submitted at least two weeks in advance, but we can manually add events in
if needed.
When FTIC students attend LINK sponsored events, they earn LINK Loot by signing in via a sign-in
sheet or swiping their UCF ID card.
Programs are worth between 500-2,000 points per event, as determined by our office. (typically
workshops are 500-1,000 and larger, social events are 1,500-2,000).
o LINK programs are open to all students, but only FTIC students will earn LINK Loot
Students’ LINK Loot ends after Summer B, then runs from Fall until the end of Spring. Students use
their accumulated Loot at various events throughout the year to bid on items such as TVs, kindles,
movies, games, etc!
o There is a Lottery in Summer B, a scholarship essay contest in the Fall (chance at $1,500 in
tuition provided by SGA), and an Auction in the Spring term.
We ask for attendance records to be sent over within 5 days of the event taking place. A LINK student
assistant tracks all attendance data and makes sure points are awarded properly.
In Fall 2014, we began an assessment of the LINK program as a whole by having our campus partners
administer a quick survey to their students at the end of workshops. So far, 94.6% of students
surveyed responded that they were either Very Satisfied or Satisfied with the program they attended.
