Dr. Giri obtained his M.Sc. degree in Physiology from the University of Calcutta and he was awarded with D.N. Mallik award (Gold Medal) and University Gold Medal for his first rank with first class in Physiology. He was also awarded Sakuntala Dasgupta Medal (Gold Medal) for securing highest marks in the special paper ‘Nutrition and Dietetics’. He received his PhD degree in the area of Cancer Biology from the University of Calcutta and pursued post-doctoral research work in USA, sponsored by NIH/NHLBI, USA till 2009. During this period, he was nominated and received ‘SEBM Young Scientist Mentee award, USA’ in 2007, awarded by the Society for Experimental Biology & Medicine, USA for his academic excellence and research credential. The research team also received American Heart Association awarded first prize for their research paper on “Wnt1 Mediated Dynamic Injury Response Activates the Epicardium and is Critical for Cardiac Repair” in Louis N. and Arnold M. Katz Basic Science Research Prize session of AHA Conference held on Nov14-16, 2010 in USA (Circulation 2010;122:A541). He has more than 12 years of research and 7+ years of teaching experiences. He published number of research papers in reputed International Journals (e.g. Toxicon, Leukemia Research, Anticancer Research, Circulation, European Journal of Pharmacology, Royal Society of ChemistryAdvances etc.). His areas of research interest include Cancer Biology and Cancer Stem Cell targeting; Stem cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine; Drug development against Cancer-Diabetes condition and other metabolic disorders; Molecular Pharmacology & Melatonin research in health and diseases.
