NOTICE
This is to notify all affiliated Colleges of The West Bengal State University (Barasat, North 24 Parganas)
again that that FIRST STATUTES, 2014 of THE WEST BENGAL STATE UNIVERSITY (Barasat, North 24
Parganas) has been in force on and from 20th May 2014 as notified by the State Government under subsection (2) & (5) of section 58 of the West Bengal State University (Barasat, North 24 Parganas) Act XXVIII
of 2007 (as amended by West Bengal Act XII of 2011 (Assent of the Governor was first published in the
Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 25th January, 2012) and by West Bengal Act XXX of 2012 (Assent of
the Governor was first published in the Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 29th November, 2012). The
University and all its affiliated Colleges are governed by provision given therein.
By 20th November 2014, i.e. six months from the date of notification, the provisions of the First
Statutes, 2014 has to be implemented.
All the Honourable Principals/Teacher-in-Charge of affiliated colleges of The West Bengal State
University are therefore requested to initiate, if not already done so, the implementation process of
the provisions of the First Statutes, 2014, so as to complete the process by 20th November 2014.
1. Please refer to Statute 113 and Statute 114 for Constitution, Election and Tenure of Office of Governing Body, and
take appropriate action for the same. In case of any difficulty in implementing the clauses of above mentioned
Statutes, please revert back in writing to the office of the undersigned for appropriate direction.
2. Please refer to Statute 93 for Statements, Returns and Reports, etc to be submitted to the office of Inspector of
Colleges. For the time being, each College is requested to furnish the above information clause by clause (one soft
copy of the same in <*doc> format along with the hard copy), till the uniform format for the same is issued by
appropriate authority as Notification.
3. Please refer to Statute 43 for Constitution of Board of Studies for Postgraduate studies in Autonomous Colleges and
such other Colleges and take appropriate action for the same.
Further, it is brought to the notice of all the Honourable Principals/Teacher-in-Charge of affiliated
colleges of The West Bengal State University that:
1. Please refer to Statute 113 and take appropriate action for the same in due time. In case of any difficulty in
implementing the above mentioned Statute, please revert back to the order(s) issued by Government of West
Bengal.
2. Please refer to Chapter VII of First Statutes, 2013 for Permission to Provide Instruction in Post-Graduate Courses of
Study and Recognition as Professional College. In the above matter, strict adherence of the relevant provisions are
expected by all concerned as otherwise, procedural delays may emerge, hampering the interest of the institution and
its students.
