• Veterans Day is a State and
Federal Holiday
• OSU does not observe the holiday,
but veterans may request a day of
leave (unpaid—must use accrued
leave) and students (who are
veterans) may be excused from
classes

• ASOSU is considering a resolution for
university-wide closure.
• Administration is supportive but
concerned about potential impacts on
academic programs.
• EC was not unanimous in its support;
also expressed concerns regarding
academic programs.

How are Academic Calendars Set?
• Academic Calendar (start & end
dates) are set/coordinated by OUS
on a 5-year rolling basis
• Just set 2018 dates
• Can implement an additional holiday
beginning 2014
• Cannot change start/end date of term
without more notice
• OSU Board of Trustees will have
authority after the OUS transition
