Degree Works is an online advising tool to help monitor your progress toward degree completion. Degree Works matches Clemson University’s degree requirements to the coursework you have completed or have in progress in an easy-to-read worksheet that shows how those courses count toward degree requirements. Degree Works also shows what courses you still need to take. Disclaimer: You are encouraged to use this degree audit report as a guide when planning your registration and long-term progress toward degree completion. It is not a substitute for academic advising. Be sure to contact your academic advisor for guidance. This audit is not your official academic transcript or a certification of degree completion. Access to Degree Works Single Sign-On Degree Works is available to all Clemson undergraduate students. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Go to iroar.clemson.edu. Click on Current students, faculty and staff. Log in with your Clemson username and password. Choose the Registration tab. Click on iROAR. Click on Student. Select Student Records. Select Degree Works. 3|Page Navigation Navigation Toolbar The navigation toolbar is located on the top of the screen under the Clemson University logo. Back to iROAR Portal FAQ Help Print Log Out Functionalities Returns to the iROAR Portal Retrieves the Frequently Asked Questions page Links to the Office of the Registrar’s home page for more information Prints audits in a plain text format Logs out and closes the Degree Works window Audit Toolbar The audit toolbar is located under the Navigation toolbar. Here, you will find your academic information, which populates automatically when you log in. Student ID Name Degree Major Academic Class Last Audit Functionalities Shows your Clemson University ID Number Shows your name Your current degree will be displayed here. The drop down menu can be used to switch between primary and secondary degrees if you are pursuing more than one degree. Your major will be displayed here. Shows your academic class: freshmen, sophomore, junior, or senior Shows the last date an audit was updated for you in Degree Works 4|Page Worksheets The Worksheets are located under the toolbars mentioned above. Student View (default) Registration Checklist View Save as PDF Class History What-If Look Ahead Worksheets Provides information about your coursework and degree progress. All degree requirements are organized in blocks such as Degree, Major, Concentration, and General Education, Depending on your program and activities, you may have other blocks as well. Shows only the coursework you have left to complete. Click on the View button every time you switch to a different audit format. Allows you to save your audit as it appears in the screen. This is usually the preferred view for printing. Provides a list, organized by term, of all the courses you have taken with grades and credits. Transfer credits are also listed. Allows you to process speculative degree audits using your current class history and analyze how a change of major would affect your progress towards graduation. Provides a way to see how planned courses would apply toward your degree. 5|Page Worksheets Format Types Each audit consists of a series of blocks from general to more specific requirements (e.g., degree, major, minor). Symbols: Green checkmarks: requirement is satisfied Blue waves: requirement is in progress Red check boxes: requirement has not been satisfied @: wildcard (For example: ENGL 3@@ means any 3000-level English course) Colon between course numbers indicates a range: level course in Genetics) *: prerequisite exists for the course (any 3000- or 4000- Student View The student view is the default worksheet format. It contains specific information, grouped into blocks, about course requirements for your degree. It shows which requirements you have completed and what courses you have yet to take. 6|Page Registration Checklist The Registration Checklist shows what coursework you have remaining. Blocks Each section on the worksheet is called a block. The types and number of blocks can vary from student to student depending on the program. Different types of blocks: degree student attribute core curriculum general education major minor concentration 7|Page Optional blocks: excess electives: courses that do not fulfill other program requirements insufficient: typically courses that were not passed or courses that were dropped in progress: your current in-progress and registered courses These blocks will show only if you have courses that fall into these categories. They are in different colors and provide less information on the courses than the blocks above. Course Look Up within the Audit A course look-up option is available from the audit. Courses that are still needed are highlighted in yellow and the subject code and course number are in purple. Clicking on the course will open more detailed information about it in a separate window showing description, prerequisites and corequisites, and sections offered for the upcoming term. Legend The legend is located on the bottom of each worksheet and contains the unique symbols essential for interpreting the audit. In addition to the symbols, Degree Works uses different colors to reflect complete/incomplete/in-progress requirements. 8|Page What-If Audit The What-If option allows you to: process a speculative degree audit using your current class history and analyze how a change of major would affect your progress towards graduation. temporarily compensate for data not yet entered in iROAR (for example, a minor or concentration that has not been declared) and offers an opportunity to view how the new minor/concentration will affect their progress towards graduation. Once on the What-If tab, select a combination of: Degree Curriculum Year Major Concentration/Emphasis (Please note that Degree Works allows you to process any program, major, and concentration combination regardless whether they are allowed by Clemson University policies. Refer to the Undergraduate Announcements for valid major/minor and major/concentration combinations.) Minor These populate the Chosen Areas of Study box and can be removed as needed. The Choose Your Future Classes option allows you to see how planned courses would apply toward your prospective degree program. Enter the subject codes and course numbers in the appropriate fields and click on the Add Course button. 9|Page On the what-if audit, you can view which requirements are complete or incomplete in the student view format. These are not stored in the database but they can be saved as a PDF and printed if necessary. If you navigate away from this page, the what-if audit cannot be accessed again unless you repeat the process explained above. Look Ahead The Look Ahead function allows you to see how certain courses would apply toward your program requirements. Enter a Subject and a Course number in the appropriate fields. Click on the Add Course button. The course will appear in the box next to those fields. Repeat these steps with as many courses as you wish. 10 | P a g e Click the Process New button to see the audit open with the prospective courses. Scroll down to see where each course fits. Look Ahead courses are in blue and highlighted as “planned.” If the course(s) do not satisfy any requirements, you will see them under Excess Electives. NOTE: The Look Ahead audit is not stored. Make sure you save and/or printed before navigating away from the page. 11 | P a g e
