Dear Mr. Colpo:
The California Department of Health Services (CDHS) has completed analysis of
Dungeness crab samples obtained November 1 3, 2004 during the "2004 Northern
California Dungeness Crab Quality Test." Dungeness crab harvested from the following
six locations, Pelican Bay, Eel River, Eureka Louisiana Pacific, Trinidad Head, Lagoons,
and Klamath River, were determined to be below the regulatol)' action level (30 ppm)
for domoic acid.
-
CDHS would like to acknowledge and thank the Pacific States Marine Fisheries
Commission, Caito Fisheries, and California Fish and Game for their assistance in
obtaining samples for analysis. CDHS will continue to monitor Dungeness crab
samples from the coast of California for elevated levels of domoic acid and will advise
industry when analyses are completed.
If you have any additional questions, please contact me at (916) 650-6500.
Sincerely,
..
