Hereford Funds-IMVA Opportunity Fund
May 2014
May 2014 Investment Review
The Fund underperformed for May but had a nice recovery towards the end of the month. I made one change in our top five positions with the addition of Stone
Energy (SGY). Stone has several attributes that I like including a solid balance sheet (recently completed an equity offering) and considerable exploration upside
from both their deepwater Gulf of Mexico properties and also onshore in the Utica play in West Virginia. I have confidence in the company’s management team and
believe there will eventually be considerable M&A interest in the company and/or its properties from larger E&P companies. I think those valuations could be
considerably higher than the market’s valuation of SGY today. Among the other top five positions, OCN and ASPS seem to have stabilized. There is no word of a
settlement with the New York State Financial Regulator, but I suspect both companies are buying back stock at these prices. 3D Systems surprised investors with an
overnight equity raise; nonetheless, I have confidence they will use the additional cash wisely. I believe DDD is the lead player in the 3D printing industry and is the
destination of choice among acquisition candidates. Moreover, I believe rumors of accounting issues are whimsical, and, when combined with the large short
interest, are creating the potential for a very attractive second half for the stock. 3D Systems brought in a large institutional investor in the deal (they took
approximately $200 million out of $300 million), and we think that is a strong vote of confidence. Luminex has been relatively weak, as have many other biotech
companies, but I still believe this stock will be very good over the next couple of years. In general, I believe these five stocks have very, very attractive potential
upside over the next year or so. Sales during the month include Proctor & Gamble and Alpha Natural Resources. PG looks like it has benefitted from the flight to
quality this year and appears near fair value. ANR has been a disappointment, and we are cutting our loss there.

Investment Objective
The investment objective of the Hereford Funds-IMVA Opportunity Fund is to provide capital appreciation over a multi-year investment horizon by investing primarily
in a diversified portfolio of publicly traded equity securities of US-based companies, which hold unique opportunities in the opinion of the Investment Manager.
Potential investments comprise small, mid, and large capitalization companies; growth and value companies; and special situations, including non US-based
companies, which are listed on a US exchange. The strategy is highly concentrated and appropriate only for risk-tolerant, long-term investors who can accept the
potential for materially greater volatility than the broad market indices.
The indicative benchmarks are the S&P 1500 and the S&P 500 Indices.
