TEAMWORK RUBRIC
Definition
Teamwork is a cooperative or coordinated effort on the part of a group of persons acting together as a team or in the interests of a common cause.
Students participate on many different teams, in many different settings. For example, a given student may work on a team to complete a lab assignment,
give an oral presentation, or complete a community service project. Furthermore, the people the student works with are likely to be different in each of
these situations. This rubric is designed to work across all of these different settings.
The rubric is meant to assess the effectiveness of a group to work as a team, not as an assessment of an individual student’s ability to work on a team.
Therefore, a group should receive a lower ratings, even if only one of the students on the team (is) not engaged or working well with others. However, if
only student is not engaged and the rubric score is marked as low due to this low engagement please note this in the comment section of the rubric.
This rubric is designed to measure the quality of a process, rather than the quality of an end product. As a result, observation of students working in groups
will need to include some evidence of group interactions. The final product of the team’s work (e.g., a written lab report, poster, device etc.) should not be
assessed with this rubric. The final product does not provide enough information into the functioning of the team.
