1 2014 SHSMD EXECUTIVE DIALOGUE JOIN YOUR SENIOR-LEVEL COLLEAGUES FOR SHSMD’S EXCLUSIVE 2014 SHSMD EXECUTIVE DIALOGUE Healthcare’s New Shorelines of Opportunity May 28—29, 2014 Conrad Chicago Hotel Chicago, IL SHSMD—the premier organization for healthcare strategy professionals—again presents an exclusive opportunity for senior executives. In today’s world of high value, accessibility, and reconfigured financial models, strategy leaders need to guide their organizations in making the right choices to thrive. Join your colleagues in an exploration of emerging opportunities. Thought leaders specifically selected by senior strategy professionals will highlight new knowledge, case examples, and recommended strategies for driving growth in an era of expanded metrics. Participants, led by an executive facilitator, will engage in rich discussions on the issues you and your colleagues are facing in 2014 and beyond. Whether your organization is strategizing on price transparency, physician integration, public and private exchanges, new market entrants, population management, or the rapidly changing patient experience, you will find the answers at this event. The Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD) is authorized to award up to 8.5 hours of pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit (non ACHE) for this program toward advancement, or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Sponsored by Pershing Yoakley & Associates, P.C. 2 This two-day program is designed to combine new knowledge sharing from thought leaders with intense dialogue from senior executive participants. PARTICIPANTS AT THE 2013 SHSMD EXECUTIVE DIALOGUE HAD THIS TO SAY: “The rich dialogue among participants and presenters created a very relaxed ‘workshop’ feel. It was almost as if the group had been assembled to wrestle with the industry’s most weighty issues and craft strategies for a ‘client,’ which was actually all of our organizations. It was like being part of an all-star consulting team on a very important assignment.” “The Executive Dialogue provided a dynamic exchange of ideas and insights into how marketing and planning professionals can be integrally involved as change agents in their organizations. The environment of collaborative dialogue was stimulating and inspiring.” THE 2014 SHSMD EXECUTIVE DIALOGUE WILL FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING STRATEGIC ISSUES THE NEW WORLD OF HEALTH EXCHANGES Exchanges are creating a sea change in the way health insurance is sold and delivered in the US, both to consumers and employers. Gain insights on the impact of private and public exchanges for insurers and providers—including considerations for participating in them, what can be learned from mature exchanges that have been operating in the Medicare space for years, and how exchanges are changing expectations and empowering consumers and employers alike. PHYSICIAN INTEGRATION Everyone is talking about aligning doctors for improved performance, but few have been successful managing the complexity involved in bringing together employed and private-practice physicians to achieve better quality, lower costs, and an environment of collaboration and accountability. Dialogue participants will hear about a Memorial Hermann case study and engage in discussion around overcoming some of the most complex issues and biggest challenges involved in forming clinically integrated networks. Learn how to develop and use these networks to succeed in an accountable care environment where managing population health, rather than treating episodic illness, will be the metric for success. ADVANCING EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE AND PRICE TRANSPARENCY You’ve heard that, in this new era of health reform, the consumer will be driving care decision-making, but what exactly does that mean and what do you need to do to prepare? Participants will focus on two critical success factors: innovations that seek to reduce healthcare costs as a consequence of improving adherence to evidence-based practice and pricing strategies that are fundamental to your health system’s ability to compete in this new era. When patients come armed with guidelines based on the most current science and comparative prices for alternative treatments and competing providers, the game is destined to change. Discuss and debate with your peers how to drive process, product, and pricing innovation in a retail-like environment. This program promises to provide inspiration on how healthcare leaders must “wake up and smell the coffee!” 3 2014 SHSMD EXECUTIVE DIALOGUE SPEAKERS BRYCE WILLIAMS Managing Director, Exchange Solutions, Towers Watson Bryce Williams is managing director of Towers Watson’s exchange solutions business segment.
