Fourteen faith communities

way to improve our region’s food security. With five brand new gardens,
we bring our total number of faith

deadline is June 28
All congregations are encouraged to
submit their application for the Good
Food Challenge before June 28 for a
chance to win up to $3,000. The aim
of this Challenge is to assist congregations in making changes to better promote “good food” – food that is sus-
tainably produced, humanely raised,
equitable, healthy, and accessible to
all – and in doing so to become role
models for other congregations in and
beyond Baltimore. Visit http://bit.

Have you seen our new vacation summer
camp curriculum yet?
The much-anticipated summer camp
curriculum, Growing Faith with Food,
was released earlier this month.
The 10 themed modules are geared
toward ages 5-11, and camp leaders can use the entire curriculum or
choose activities that make the most
sense for their programs. Each module consists of a prayer, song, crafts,
games, recipes for snacks and meals,
story time suggestions, and rainy day
activities, making it perfect for a
summer camp. It can also easily be
used throughout the year during religious education and other gatherings
of kids. Read more and download a

Lauraville Farmer’s Market
Two opportunities to help improve local
food and water systems
Here are two ways your congregation
can help improve the Chesapeake Bay
watershed as part of our greater effort to improve the local food system.
The BOP (Baltimore Orchard Project
www.baltimoreorchard.org) is helping
spread the word about the Governor’s
challenge to plant streamside corridors with trees. They are recruiting
congregations who are interested in
planting fruit trees, both as part of
their mission to improve our local
food system and as a way to improve
our local water and soil ecosystems.
If your congregation is interested and
willing, BOP would like to include
that information in its proposal for
funding and needs to know by May 15.
You can find more information at this
web address http://bit.ly/15ck07S
and at the Interfaith Partners for the
Chesapeake website http://www.
chesapeakecovenant.org/trees.htm.
Blue Water Baltimore (www.bluewaterbaltimore.org) is offering rain
barrel workshops or delivery at your
place of worship. Rain barrels can
help you collect rainwater for easier
gardening, as well as reduce stormwater runoff. For a travel fee of
$100, Blue Water Baltimore will host
a workshop to help your congregation
save money by building its own rain
barrels. Do-it-yourself kits can be delivered to save an additional $20 off
the workshop price of $65 per barrel.
