How to Create My Yahoo E-Mail Account
You can create an e-mail account through Yahoo! that provides free e-mail service.
First, open Internet Explorer or Netscape.
Second, type www.yahoo.com in the address box
Third, click on Check Mail.
Fourth, on the following page, click on Sign me up!
Fifth, type your own Yahoo ID. Your ID should be unique and easy for other people to
remember. Usually, it is a good idea to use your names connected by “_”, i.e.,
FirstName_LastName. However, if your name is fairly common, the chances are that
someone else might have taken it already. In that case, use one or two nouns to make the
ID, e.g., “starseeker” or “planet_walker99”. As you may have guessed, you can use
letters and numbers only, no special characters, such as #, $, %, except the underscore
character ( _ ). The ID must start with a letter and not a number, and it has to be 6 or
more letters and/or digits.
Sixth, type your password. It should be something that you can remember easily but
which others cannot guess. For example, your phone number or name is not a good
choice. Follow the basic rules for ID. (letters and numbers only, no special characters). The
password has to be at least six digits. Use lower case letters only. Do not use UPPER
case (CAPITAL) letters. Retype the same password. Make sure you write the password
on the next page of this printout.
Seventh, for “Question we will ask,” select “Pet’s Name.” If you have a pet, use it,
otherwise, type “Zack”
Eighth, for the birth date, type January 1, 1980. You don’t give out the real date.
Ninth, skip Current e-Mail Address.
Tenth, type your names, zip code is 98122, gender. For the occupational information,
select anything you want.
Eleventh, if you want to get a lot of junk e-mail, select all boxes of your interests.
Finally, click on “Submit this form”.
If everything goes okay, you will be in your account. Otherwise, follow the instructions.

Attaching Computer Files to Your E-mail
Using most e-mail programs, you can send and receive computer files over the Internet.
First, open your e-mail account. In this handout, I will demonstrate with Yahoo and
Hotmail.
Second, open a new e-mail to send. For Yahoo and Hotmail users, click on the
“Compose” button.
Third, click on the “Attachment” or “Edit Attachment” button. In Yahoo, it can be
found at the bottom of the mail, so you need to scroll down the window. In Hotmail, the
button is near the top of the mail.
In the window of “Attachment”, there are three steps you need to follow, and you may
not skip any of those steps.
1. Click on the “Browse” button. That will prompt you with a small window called
“Choose file”. Then, click on the box next to “Look in:”. When the drop-down menu
opens, select the drive (A:\ or C:\ or O:\) where you have the files you want to attach.
2. Locate and select the file you want to attach. Click on the “Open” button. You
may attach one file at a time, so if you want to attach more than one file, you need
to repeat this process from step #1 for other files.
3. Click on “Attach File” button. Wait for a few seconds until the file is displayed in
the same window.
4. Click on “Done”. When you go back to the e-mail, you will see the file displayed
on the window if you are using Yahoo. Hotmail users, follow your fate. ;-) (If it

the attachment file.)
