Legal. Committing or attempting to commit any act that is or would be a violation of local, state, or federal law, on campus or at any University-sponsored event, is prohibited (Reference to Violation 22: Policy 4; Smoke-Free and Tobacco-Free Campus Policy). Disciplinary Suspension: Disciplinary suspension is an action which excludes the student from registration, class attendance, and use of University facilities for a specified period of time. Disciplinary suspension is recorded on the student’s academic record during the time in effect and is permanently removed upon reinstatement. Upon termination of the period of suspension, the student shall be considered for registration in compliance with the academic good standing policy and the policy on continuing student status then in effect. Established proof of a further incident of misconduct, after the student is readmitted, may result in disciplinary dismissal. Suspension status will be not be lifted at date of expiration unless student has completed all assigned sanctions and other university obligations. Page 26 K. Disciplinary measures under the Community Standards Handbook – Student Conduct (Policy 4) may be carried out prior to, concurrently with, or after civil or criminal proceedings off campus at the discretion of the Director of Student Community Standards. Resolves made or sanctions imposed under the Student Conduct (Policy 4) shall not be subject to change because criminal charges arising out of the same facts and giving rise to violation of University rules were dismissed, reduced, or resolved in favor of or against the criminal law defendant. Page 31 Emergency Leave Request In the event there is an emergency, students can request an Emergency Leave through the Office of the Dean of Students, located in A-2134. Reasons that can constitute consideration of an Emergency Leave include, but are not limited to, serious physical health concerns or injury, family crisis, and/or military deployment. The Emergency Leave Form and any supporting documentation must be submitted to the Office of the Dean of Students [email protected] no later than the last day of the current semester in which the class(es) is/are scheduled.
