ib-or-2004-116-FY 2005 Northwest Forest Plan Implementation Monitoring Program United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service R-6 R-5 OR/WA CA Bureau of Land Management Reply Refer To: (FS) 1920/1736 PFP (BLM) (OR-935) P United States Department of Interior Date: April 26, 2004 EMS TRANSMISSION 04/27/2004 FS-Memorandum BLM-Information Bulletin No. OR-2004-116 To: Forest Service Forest Supervisors within the Range of the Northwest Forest Plan Forests; Bureau of Land Management District Managers (Coos Bay, Eugene, Lakeview, Medford, Roseburg, and Salem) and Field Managers (Klamath Falls and Tillamook) Subject: FY 2005 Northwest Forest Plan Implementation Monitoring Program REPLY DUE: 5/31/04 Information is requested for projects implemented within the Northwest Forest Plan (NWFP) area since 1994. This information will be used to randomly select two projects and the two watersheds containing the projects for monitoring by each of the Provincial Implementation Monitoring Teams. This request was discussed at the January 13-14, 2004, Provincial Implementation Monitoring Team leaders’ workshop. The FY 2005 program will continue the focus on monitoring prescribed fire, grazing, mining, recreation, restoration and road decommissioning projects. We are asking for this information now to ensure field units have adequate time to prepare for reviews. For this request, please list only projects in the above categories implemented since last years request (please fill in the blanks in Attachment 1). For your reference, we have enclosed last year’s project list (Attachment 3). For those provinces monitoring a new (different) project type this year, you will need to supply ALL projects within that category using the criteria identified in Attachment 1. As a reminder, all projects need to have been implemented under the NWFP. We are asking that the Provincial Implementation Monitoring Team (PIMT) Leader for 2004 (Attachment 2) be the lead for compiling this information for their province. This will help ensure a coordinated response. If your unit is selected for monitoring, we ask that every effort be made to complete this task. This is necessary in order to maintain the success of this program. If the PIMT Leads have any questions concerning this year’s program or the information data request enclosed, please contact Dave Baker, [email protected], at 541-464-3223 or Gery Ferguson, [email protected], at 541-383-5538 or 541-416-6463. Please complete the enclosed table (Attachment 1) and return it to Gery Ferguson. Please share this information with your Provincial Advisory Committees. 2 Thank you for your continued support!
