The Outdoor Recreation Workshop will be held in Roseburg this year at the Loft at Seven Springs Event Center, which is approximately 20 minutes from Roseburg. A map will be forwarded to all districts by October l, 2004. The workshop will begin on Monday, October 18, at 1:00 pm and end on October 21, at 5:00 pm. A block of rooms has been reserved under the name “Bureau of Land Management” at the Holiday Inn Express in Roseburg. Please call 541-673-7517 to make your room reservations no later than October 1, 2004. A draft agenda is attached. This year we are going to add a new agenda topic. Each district will have a 15 minute block of time designated for them to share or discuss a project or topic that can benefit the group. This will be informal but, hopefully, beneficial to all. Roseburg District has selected 3 full day Field Trips to choose from. (Limited space and requirements on trips 2 & 3.) All participants will meet at the BLM Roseburg District Office at 7:30am; 777 NW Garden Valley Blvd. carpool from the Holiday Inn Express.) (Will Trip # 1: North Umpqua/ Lone Pine Trip: Drive along the N. Umpqua National Scenic Byway, see the Wild and Scenic River, visit the start of the 79 mile N. Umpqua Trail, hike to a waterfall and visit some of Roseburg’s best and newest recreation sites. Hear about issues and successes of managing this SRMA. Stops include the Colliding Rivers Information Center in Glide; a .8 mile accessible hike to Susan Creek Falls, walking through the emerald jewel Susan Creek Campground; and visiting the new Lone Pine Group Reservation Campground, just adjacent to the Millpond Recreation site. Trip # 2: North Bank Ranch ATV Ride: Bring your own ATV or be l of the first 4 to sign up. This is a ride on a 10 mile loop (moderate skills needed) within the North Bank Ranch Habitat Mgmt Area. This area is managed to ib-or-2004-166-Attachment 1 perpetuate the listed Columbia White Tail Deer, and hear how partnerships and volunteers help recreation; hiking, hunting and equestrian use. See the new shop/storage barn built by Job Corps and meet the ranch host specializing in woodworking projects. Note: This is not an OHV play area. To participate an ATV certificate is required. Trip # 3: Raft or Kayak the N. Umpqua Wild & Scenic River: Bring your wet suit and enjoy the class 1-3 rapids of a 6-milke segment between Bogus Creek and Susan Creek. Hear issues facing us in managing this river. See how partnerships with the USFS improve public service and quality visitor experiences. Bring your own kayak, or raft or be l of the first 6 to sign up. All trips will return to the District Office no-later-then 5:00pm.
