Swede’s Landing Swede’s Landing is along the Brownlee Reservoir, a 52- mile long reservoir on the Snake River. Brownlee Reservoir is known for its large channels of catfish, abundant crappie, and good bass fishing. Swede’s Landing is the closest road access to Brownlee Reservoir for visitors traveling from Richland, OR. This site is popular because no matter how low the water is, you can launch your boat, and the fishing is great at the mouth of the Powder River. Activities: Facilities: The camping area has several sites, vault toilets, an unimproved boat launch and one historic shade tree. Fees: Swede’s Landing is a free-use area. Maximum stay is 14 days. Season: Open year-round, most popular between April 15 – November 15. Other: Other attractions in the area are the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, 60 miles west on the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway, and the Snake River/Mormon Basin Backcountry byway.
