Ownership: BLM ownership is in question and was referenced as BLM ownership by the Washington State Parks Commission Location: N48 42' 66", W122 57' 06" Topography: Steep rocky feature domed. Vegetation Features: None, besides lichens Major human uses/ activities: Photography, sea kayaking, boating both non
motorized and motorized occur in the area. Hiking occurs to the nearby point through a
trail system from a WASPC San Juan Marine Park, day-use site "Point Doughty"
Other items: Point Doughty Rock formation is accessible only at lower tide
events. Point Doughty is identified as a WADFW Marine mammal haul out site #508.
(2) Is the unit in a natural condition? Yes X

N/A Description: Rounded rocks are natural with no apparent impacts. Point Doughty
adjoins WA State Park lands on main Orcas Island with no developments other than a
trail. Point Doughty is in a natural condition.

unnaturalness and the remainder is of sufficient size) have outstanding opportunities
for solitude?

Description: Outstanding opportunities for solitude can be found on the rock.
There is no development within Y2 mile and the premier location of the rock
extended far into Presidents Channel offer a unique opportunity for isolation and
solitude.

to unnaturalness and the remainder is of sufficient size) have outstanding
opportunities for primitive and unconfined recreation?

Description: Recreational opportunities are not outstanding. Recreational boating
both motorized and non-motorized does occur in the area. Wildlife viewing is
excellent in this area for seabirds, marine mammals and other species. Photography
is excellent in this area. Sea Kayaking is also excellent in this area. By itself these
opportunities are not outstanding. In combination with the adjoining state park lands
the opportunities are outstanding.

Description: Supplemental values for Point Doughty include a dynamic marine
ecological system. The geology of Point Doughty is part of a unique formation regarding
Washington State. Other identified values for Point Doughty are scientific and scenic.
Point Doughty is identified as a WADFW Marine mammal haul out site #508. Oyster
Catchers have been reported to frequent the area.
