· DESCRIPTION OF CURRENT CONDITIONS: (Include land ownership,
location, topography, vegetation features and summary of major human
uses/activities).
Ownership: BLM ownership
Location: N 48. 33' 11.41", W 122. 51' 15.97"
Topography: Low rock formation sparsely vegetated with one small shrub, island
is about 10' feet above sea level.
Vegetation Features: Lichens, mosses, grasses and an assortment of native
plants cover the area. Island is approximately 80' feet east of shore.
Major human uses/ activities: Recreational boating both motorized and non­
motorized does occur in the area. Wildlife viewing is excellent in this area for
seabirds, marine mammals and other species. Photography is excellent in this area.
Sea Kayaking is also excellent in this area. Wildflower viewing occurs on the Rock
(island) Fishing, and crabbing also occur in the area.
Other items: There is a Washington State, San Juan Marine Park, 3800' feet to
the east. There are 4 each, USFW, San Juan Marine National Wildlife Refuge Islands
within approximately 1 Y:z miles. There are several WADFW Marine mammal Haul out
site nearby, sites# 385, 384, 383.

Description: Outstanding opportunities for solitude can be found on Fauntleroy
Rock. Island is not overwhelmed by the nearby private dock and no homes were
located within Y4 mile along the shore of Decatur Island.

opportunities for primitive and unconfined recreation?

Description: Recreational opportunities are not outstanding. Recreational boating
both motorized and non-motorized does occur in the area. Wildlife viewing is
excellent in this area for seabirds, marine mammals and other species. Photography
is excellent in this area. Sea Kayaking is excellent in this area. Wildflower viewing
is also excellent on Fauntleroy Rock.
