Roseburg, Ore. – The Bureau of Land Management, Roseburg District is issuing a temporary
emergency closure of public lands in Douglas County Oregon. This closure affects public lands
within and adjacent to the Cable Crossing fire, on lands administered by the BLM.
This emergency closure is necessary to ensure public safety, land health, and resource integrity
during ongoing suppression and restoration activities which preclude safe public access. The areas
affected by this closure order will be posted with appropriate regulation signs at main access and
entry points.
This closure affects public lands inside the established perimeter of the Cable Crossing road and
area closure and is specific to BLM lands and routes only. The BLM will post closure signs at main
entry points to this area. The area will be closed to motorized and non-motorized transportation,
including foot traffic. This closure will be in effect immediately and will remain in effect until the
Cable Crossing Fire Area hazards have been remediated.
The Cable Crossing Fire was reported Tuesday July 28, 2015, near Oregon Hwy 138 East, near
milepost 23, east of Glide, Oregon. The fire burnt over 1,800 acres and is 100 percent contained.

Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate
throughout the nation. The BLM's mission is to manage and conserve the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations
under our mandate of multiple-use and sustained yield. In Fiscal Year 2014, the BLM generated $5.2 billion in receipts from public lands.
