Norm Johnson n and Jerry Fraanklin, on BLM lands within tthe Roseburg aand Medford Distrricts. As the BLLM moves forw ward with thesse pilot projects we’ll be reguularly posting u updates about their status. Rosseburg Pilo ot Project The BLM hosted an n open house m meeting with m members of the public, on W Wednesday, Maarch 2, 2011 fro om 4 to 7 p.m.. ers of the public were in atte endance. Roseeburg District rresource speciaalists and Scottt Center, a biologist with the Fish and Wildlife Service, prrovided a presentation on ow wl activity and habitat qualityy in the Myrtle e Creek waters hed. Followingg the presentattion, Dr. Norm nson asked for input on whatt criteria should d be used to se elect stands fo r the project. Next week’s collabo orative worksh hop (Marrch 8) will help p to determine the selection aand prioritization criteria forr picking standss for restoratio on for the initiaal projeect in 2011. Th he Medford District is continuing its field analysis and invventory of nortthern spotted o owl habitat, an nd coorrdination with collaborative p partners and other stakehold ders. The Dep partment of the Interior annd BLM are reeviewing the proposal, wh hile the TTribe and the e BLM continu ue to work clo osely on man nagement act ivities affecting tribal foreest lands.
