Family where children live
with only one parent
SINGLE PARENT FAMILY
a family composed of the
nuclear family and other
relatives
EXTENDED FAMILY
Two heterosexual adults,
married with biological or
adopted children
NUCLEAR FAMILY
Married couple whose
children have left home. May
become ‘empty shell’ where
they continue to live together,
but as separate individuals.
EMPTY NEST FAMILY
a new family formed when
two adults remarry or cohabit
and live together with
children from a previous
relationship
RECONSTITUTED FAMILY
all the people living together
in a domestic dwelling, not
necessarily related. E.g.
students sharing a house
HOUSEHOLD
Instructions
Lay out the cards face down and mixed up in a 5x5 grid (or bigger if you wish to make more cards). Players take it in
turns to turn over 2 cards at a time. When they match a picture and definition, they collect the pair and have another
turn.
When a player turns over 2 cards that do not match, they must turn them face down again and it becomes the next
player’s turn.
