AREA D- SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES
English. The English competency requirement is met by completing ENGL 120 with
a grade of “C” or better, or a grade of “Pass.”
Mathematics. The Mathematics competency requirement is met by taking MATH 103 or
a higher numbered class, or a statistics course from another discipline that has
intermediate algebra as a prerequisite, with a grade of “C” or better, or “Pass,” or
completion of Accuplacer Assessment placing into MATH 120 or higher. Students that
graduated from the Grossmont Union High School District may be placed into
MATH 103 or 110 if they earned a B in Algebra II (both semesters); into MATH 120,
125, 160, 170, 175, 176, 178 if they earned a B in Pre-Calculus (both semesters); into
MATH 180 if they earned a B in AP Calculus (both semesters). Students must request the
