Course Grade: Grades will be will be assigned using a
numerical grading system. The numbers below are used
to compute test scores and final grades for clinic and
lecture courses in the Dental Hygiene Program. A
minimum of 2.5 is required in all dental hygiene courses
in order to progress in the program.

How to Succeed
• This may be a difficult class for you but there is
support to make it easier.
• Tutoring is available for free (Biology Open Lab)
• I am here to help you learn the material, so please
ask questions regularly both in person and by email.
We’ll practice this.
• Please expect 2 – 4 hours of outside studying and
memorizing anatomy for each hour in class.
• We cover a lot of material each class period so
missing class is not recommended
• Please form study groups this week.

Quizzes/Exams
3 Exams (2 midterms + 1 Final) and 4 Quizzes:
– Check Website for Updated Quiz/Exam Schedule. These
dates are tentative until confirmed.
– Assessments will be a combination of questions based on
your study objectives, homework, lecture materials in the
form of multiple-choice, matching, true/false and fill-in-theblank plus short answer, short essay, and diagram and
model labeling.
– We will have mini-reviews before the midterm and final
exam so that you can assess your exam readiness and
study accordingly.
Strict Exam Rules: Tests may not be rescheduled or made-up due
to tardiness or absence. Students with extraordinary
circumstances should discuss them with the instructor as soon
as the situation occurs and at least 1 day before the
scheduled exam. Documentation is required.

Daily Homework
You will have daily homework assignments that may
include answers to study questions, short analyses of
papers we read, case studies, diagram labeling.
5 homework assignments will be submitted for
grading.
No late work will be accepted.
NOTE: You have one late pass.

Lectures
• My powerpoints will be posted on the course website
before lecture.
• Lecture slides may not cover ALL the material you will
find on exams. Questions may include concepts from
textbook reading, Coloring Book plates, homework
assignments.
