Information for Presenters
Oral Presentations
Each presentation lasts 15 minutes for oral presentations, 30 minutes for invited speeches
and 60 minutes for keynote speeches. An oral presentation has 15 minutes for each presentation,
including 12-minute presentation and 3-minute questions and answers. Conference staff will
ring the bell once after 10 minutes and twice after 12 minutes. Conference staff will stand by at
each session to provide relevant assistance. All presentation shall be made in English.
Each meeting room will be equipped with a laptop, an LCD projector and a laser pointer.
As all laptops provided are installed with Microsoft Office software, all speakers are required to
prepare presentation slides as PowerPoint format.

Poster Presentations
1. Display boards with 100cm (W) by 150cm (H) will be available for each poster. The size of
poster is suggested to be within horizontally 90cm max and vertically 120cm max.
2. There are two sessions for the poster. The poster session for Topic A, B and C is from
13:30 to 15:00. The poster session for Topic D, E and F is from 15:30 to 17:00.
3. The paper number will be mounted on the top of the board by conference staff. Each poster
can be mounted at 13:00~15:15 or 15:15~17:15. All presenters are suggested to be present
during 13:30~15:00 or 15:30~17:00.

Helpful Tips
Climate
February is one of the most pleasant months in Taiwan. The climate in February
is generally mild with temperatures of 22-27 ℃ in Kaohsiung.
Currency
The New Taiwan Dollar ( NT$ ) is the national currency. Paper currency comes in $2,000,
$1,000, $500, $200, and $100 denominations, while coins come in $50, $10, $5, and $1
denominations. The currency exchange rate at Feb. 2013 is around NT$ 29.738 to US$ 1.
Foreign currencies can be exchanged at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport,
government-designated banks and hotels. Please visit the Currency converter at
http://www.xe.net . Major credit cards are accepted in major hotels and stores and travelers
checks may be cashed at foreign-exchange banks, some tourist-oriented businesses and most
international tourist hotels.

Languages
Mandarin Chinese is the official language in Taiwan, but English is familiar to t h e

Taiwan is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT + 0800)
Tipping
A 1 0 % service charge is automatically added to room rates and meals. Other tipping is
not expected.

The local rate for public pay phones is NT$1 for two minutes. Most public phones
provide international call services.
English and Japanese speaking switch board operator s are employed at most
