How to Install Gregg College Keyboarding 1. Insert the application CD into your computer’s CD drive. 2. The installation wizard will automatically start. If it does not, do the following: a. Click the Start button, and then Run... b. In the Run window, click on the Browse button. c. Locate the CD or DVD drive. Select the file named “setup.exe”. Click Open. d. Back in the Run window, click OK. 3. In the Setup window, click Next. 4. Read the licensing agreement, select “I accept the terms of the license agreement”, and then click Next. 5. In the Select Destination Location window, click Next. 6. In the Select Student Data Location window, select the “Save student data on other media”. Click Next. 7. In the Select Student Data Path window, click Browse. 8. In the Choose Folder window, select the drive that you want to save the student data files. For most cases, you will choose the USB drive (a.k.a. thumb drive). If you are using a USB drive, be sure to plug it in first. This will allow you to work at both at home and the college. If you use other drives such as zip or floppy disk, choose the drive accordingly. The name for the drive could be D, E, F, G, or anything else depending how the system is setup. Click OK. 9. In the Select Student Data Path window, click Next. 10. The installation will start. Just wait. 11. In the Install Complete window, click Finish. Remember to bring the USB drive (or disk) to the college to continue the work. Be sure to make a backup file of the Student Data Be sure to follow proper procedure for removing the USB drive – using the green arrow. How to Setup Your User Account 1. Go to Start All Programs Irwin Keyboarding GDP Home. 2. The application will start. Wait a moment. 3. For the first time only, you will need to create a user account. Click New Stuent. 4. Enter your “official” first and last names. Do not use nicknames. 5. Click 6. Once you login, you will have an audio introduction. 7. For the live update, I would choose Update Now and check Turn off Live Update. If you wish, you may choose to keep the live update active. However, I do not know what possible implications would be. 8. It will download the updates. 9. Once the update is complete, you will be back to the login page. Click on the OK button. 10. Select the lesson. Double-click on the lesson that you want to start. 11. Once you complete the lesson, you will notice that the icon next to each component is a solid rectangular shape. How to Print and Submit Assignments 1. In the application, click on Portfolio. 2. The portfolio window will show the lessons that you have completed. 3. Click on to select the lessons to submit. 4. Select the lessons by dates, lesson range, or highlighting lessons. Be sure to select All for Exercise Types. Click OK. 5. The printout will be similar to the following: 6. Submit the printout to the instructor. If you have an old printout already submitted, replace it with the new printout.
