THE ASSOCIATED STUDENT GOVERNMENT OF CUYAMACA COLLEGE Cuyamaca College, Rancho San Diego Parkway, El Cajon, California, 92019 Associated Student Government Meeting Agenda Student Center, I-124 Friday, October 16th, 2015 at 12:30pm NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Associated Student Government of Cuyamaca College (ASGCC) will hold a Regular Meeting on October 16th, 2015. The meeting time and location are noted above. The ASGCC reserves the right to suspend the orders of the day if necessary to conduct business. All ASGCC meetings are held in locations that are wheelchair accessible. Other disability-related accommodations will be provided to persons with disabilities upon request. Documents related to closed session items or those that are exempt from disclosure as stated in the California Public Records Act will not be made available for public inspection. Order of Business Quorum was established. The meeting was called to order at 12:32pm by Vice President Davi Peterson. I. Present: Davi Peterson, Jesus Suarez, Evan Esparza, Onjoli Thomas-Jones, Landon Gracia, Alex Cintron, Tamarah Ibraheem, Donnel Endaya, Brianna Winans, Angel Aguiniga, Reem Jazrawi, Mawj Hasan, Maryam Al naqeeb, Laura Franco, Seth Slater II. Adoption of the Agenda III. Approval of Minutes ASGCC Regular Meeting Minutes from October 09th, 2015 IV. Agenda Item Amended; A2: ASG Event Committee Amend to make this committee an Ad Hoc Committee Approved Public Comment This time is reserved for members of the public to address the ASGCC with concern to any agenda item or matter under the ASGCC’s jurisdiction. A time limit of three (3) minutes per speaker and ten (10) minutes per topic shall be observed. The law does not permit any action to be taken, nor extended discussion of any items not on the agenda. The ASGCC may briefly respond to statements made or questions posed; however, for further information, please contact the ASG Secretary for the item of discussion to be placed on a future agenda. (Brown Act § 54954.3) Seth Slater- Campus Equity Week is from 10/26/2015- 10/29/2015. There will be a rally on the Grand Lawn on 10/28/2015 at 12:30pm. Also involved in the AFT Labor Union where one of the goals is to get more part time teachers hired as full time teachers. V. Reports of Officers (3 minutes per officer) A. Activities Assistant – Vacant. B. Public Relations Assistant – Vacant. C. Onjoli Thomas Jones, Secretary- Attended an informative and interactive workshop focused on Coming Out Day hosted by Eddie Vasquez. D. Manny Juarez, Inter-Club Council Representative- Absent E. Senator(s), Manny Juarez, Judith Jimenez, Alex Cintron, Tamarah Ibraheem Alex Cintron- Currently working on the Cuyamaca ASG Google calender that executive members will have access too. F. Evan Esparza, Trustee- None. G. Landon Gracia, Treasurer- Reported the current budget of the Student Representative funds which is $104,648. H. Jesus Suarez, Evening Vice President- Advertisement for the Safe Zone logo competition needs to be more widespread. I. Davi Peterson, Executive Vice President- The Breast Cancer event with the Health Center went well. We will keep the game. J. Lauren Vaknin, ASG Advisor- This following Monday there is a workshop at 11am with Dr. Stark. President Julianna Barnes and Vice President of Student Affairs, Scott Thayer will attend our next Friday meeting. Everyone should prepare answers to the following questions, “What are your individual goals as well as your ASG goals?” On October 27th the student governments from nearby high schools will be on campus; Cuyamaca ASG members should come so we can talk about leadership skills. On October 28th there will be a basketball game for College Hour and volunteers are needed. K. Mariah Moschetti, President-Absent. VI. Reports of Standing Committees Policy and Procedures Committee, Evan Esparza - Further discussion on the Magistrate and Associate positions as well as possible stipend amendments for Evening Vice President and Vice President. VII. Reports of Special Committees ASG Logo Ad Hoc Committee, Alex Cintron- Rough drafts of logos have been collected and digital renditions should be completed by next week. VIII. Reports of College Committee Representatives Jesus Suarez attended the Environmental Sustainability CommitteeCuyamaca will be experiencing upgraded nozzle systems that utilize 20% less water. The Heritage Garden will be created by the Kumeyaay people and will be funded through a grant. The E building will be experiencing environmentally friendly changes soon. Cuyamaca will be mandated to compost between the dates of April 2016 and January 2017. Evan Esparza attended the Facilities Operation Emergency Procedures Committee- There were concerns about having locks on classroom doors and the committee may experience a name change in the future. Landon Gracia attended the Food and Bookstore Committee- Students with the Student Benefit Card will receive a 10% discount off of any items excluding books. IX. Special Orders X. ASG Relay for Life This time is reserved for the ASG to discuss and take action on forming a group to participate in the Relay for Life event to support the fight against cancer. Motion to postpone until next semester o Landon motioned; seconded (5,0) A2. ASG Ad Hoc Event Committee This time is reserved for the ASG to discuss and take action on forming this Committee in order to discuss and plan ASG events on a month to month basis, as seen fit. Jesus moves to approve; seconded (5,0) A3. Appointment of Evan Esparza as Region X Delegate effective 10/16/15 This time is reserved for the ASG to take action on the appointment of Evan Esparza to serve as the Region X Delegate for Cuyamaca College. Jesus moves to approve; seconded (5,0) XII. Open Forum This time is reserved for the ASGCC to informally discuss any topics that do not appear on the agenda and do not require action to be taken. A limit of five (5) minutes per speaker and ten (10) minutes per topic shall be enforced. If any item needs further discussion or action, please contact the ASG Secretary for the item to be placed on future agendas. Evan- On October 28th there will be a rally on the Grand Lawn, combined with an ASG recruitment booth. Davi- Applications for new positions are due soon.
