The meeting time and location are noted above. The ASGCC reserves the right to suspend the orders of the day if necessary to conduct business. Order of Business Quorum was established. Meeting was called to order at 12:30pm by President Mariah Moschetti. I. Present: Mariah Moschetti, Davi Peterson, Evan Esparza, Jesus Suarez, Onjoli Thomas Jones, Mawj Hasan, Julio Chavez, Shams Judhi, Niveen Almezory, Tanuja Adigopula, Andrew Watkins, Jimmy Miller, Carol Bianchi, Jose Guerra, Gerald Erdrer, Reem Jazrawi II. Adoption of the Agenda III. Approval of Minutes ASGCC Regular Meeting Minutes from March 11th, 2016 Approved ASGCC Special Meeting Minutes from February 11th, 2016 Tabled until the end of the meeting Approved IV. Public Comment This time is reserved for members of the public to address the ASGCC with concern to any agenda item or matter under the ASGCC’s jurisdiction. A time limit of three (3) minutes per speaker and ten (10) minutes per topic shall be observed. The law does not permit any action to be taken, nor extended discussion of any items not on the agenda. The ASGCC may briefly respond to statements made or questions posed; however, for further information, please contact the ASG Secretary for the item of discussion to be placed on a future agenda. (Brown Act § 54954.3) V. Seth Slater/AFT (American Federation of Teachers)- Rallying to extend Proposition 30, “Temporary Taxes to Fund Education,” a proposition that will expire in two years if not extended, causing a portion of the schools budget to be lost. AFT is asking for volunteers to collect signatures from registered voters around the school in order to petition this reduction of funds. Students can pick up the petition packets in the Student Government Office (Room I-124) and return the signed petitions to the Student Affairs Office (Room I-120). Reports of Officers (3 minutes per officer) A. Tommie Post, Activities Assistant- Absent B. Niveen Almezory, Public Relations Assistant- Attended Dr. Starck’s workshop which focused in on women uplifting other women. Also attended the Active Shooter Workshop where students learned the steps to take in the event of an active shooter. C. Onjoli Thomas Jones, Secretary- Attended Dr. Starck’s workshop as well and created a new format for meeting sign in sheets. D. Mawj Hasan, Club Coordinator- None E. Senators, Manny Juarez, Alex Cintron, Julio Chavez, Donnel Endaya, Carol Bianchi, Shams Judhi, Tanuja Adigpoula, James (Jimmy) Miller Julio- Alumni Fest went well despite the rain. Carol- Attended the Alumni Fest and Dr. Starck’s workshop. Shams- None Tanuja- The Agora workshop was very eye opening Jimmy- At the Mt. Miguel orientation, a lot of high school students showed interest in our student government! The Fall 2016 assessment test will no longer require the prerequisite/remedial courses for math and English. F. Evan Esparza, Trustee- Him and Grossmont’s Student Trustee dropped the puck at the Alumni Fest hockey game. There is a new Vice Chair in the Governing Board. Praised the Social Justice Workshop. G. Andrew Watkins, Treasurer- Agora workshop was very interesting and he learned a lot about mythology H. Jesus Suarez, Evening Vice President- Agora workshop went well. Will be encouraging members to attend these three workshops that promote diversity and inclusion: Kognito, Korra and Safe Zones. I. Davi Peterson, Executive Vice President- Everyone served there office hours. Would like to have an active shooter emergency kit in the office. J. Lauren Vaknin, ASG Advisor- March 31st 11am-1pm, Achieving the Dream Initiatives will be discussed. The Foundation was very impressed with our volunteer work and will throw us a pizza party at our next meeting on April 1st. The Career Fair is on May 4th and the Career Center needs volunteers. The Spring Garden Festival is on April 23rd and volunteers are needed for that as well. General Assembly applications are due today and the election packets are due on March 28th K. Mariah Moschetti, President- After this meeting, the Region X Council meeting will be taking place on campus VI. Reports of Standing Committees VII. Reports of Special Committees VIII. Reports of College Committee Representatives Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Council, Onjoli Thomas JonesPassed out a draft of the “Emergency Response Guidelines for Faculty, Staff & Students.” Highlighted the importance to follow campus deputies instructions in the event of a crisis Transfer Achievement Celebration, Onjoli Thomas Jones- The Career Center is currently looking for two student speakers to speak at the celebration. One who is has already transferred and one who is transferring this year. Emergency Preparedness, Evan Esparza- There will be a table top meeting from 1:30- 2:30pm in room I-207 Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Jesus Suarez- Looking into engagement initiatives such as, “What would increase your time spent on campus?” IX. Special Orders X. Unfinished Business XI. New Business A1. Approval of the ASGCC Election to be held from May 02, 2016 to May 05, 2016 Evan moves, seconded (9,0) o Approved A2. Discussion and Possible Action of Enforcing Club Representatives to give Club Reports XII. Club Coordinator will work with Student Affairs to find out who is active and who to contact (updated list of advisor and presidents) in order to be updated with club initiatives. A3. Approval of the ASGCC to Sponsor the Resolution to Support Paid Part-Time Faculty Office Hours for General Assembly Spring 2016. Resolution supports adjuncts and students. Mandates that adjunct faculty have at least five office hours and by having money reallocated within the budget. Jesus moves, seconded (9,0) o Approved A4. Approval of the Allocation of $250.00 for the Purchase of an ASGCC Snow Cone Machine Andrew moves, seconded (9,0) o Approved Open Forum This time is reserved for the ASGCC to informally discuss any topics that do not appear on the agenda and do not require action to be taken. A limit of five (5) minutes per speaker and ten (10) minutes per topic shall be enforced. If any item needs further discussion or action, please contact the ASG Secretary for the item to be placed on future agendas. Niveen- Thought it was a great idea to have the Active Shooter Workshop on campus and would like more safety and awareness workshops to be hosted. Evan- There will be various events at SDSU. An upcoming one is Women in Jazz workshop on April 15th from 4-6pm in the Montezuma Hall Jesus- The deadline for the art show will be extended XIII. Adjournment Meeting adjourned at 1:44pm
