Longwood LANCERS
(9-10, 6-2 Big South)
Lynchburg, Va. - Vines Center - 5 p.m.
Today’s Game
Liberty (14-6, 6-2 Big South) will wrap up the first half of Big South Conference play and
a three-game homestand Saturday at 5 p.m., when Longwood (9-10, 6-2 Big South) visits
the Vines Center. The first-ever Big South matchup between the Lady Flames and Lancers will tip off a basketball doubleheader at the Vines Center. The Liberty men’s squad
hosts Charleston Southern at 8 p.m.
The “Starting Five” - Today’s Top Storylines
1) Liberty and Longwood are both part of a four-way tie for second place in the Big South
Conference standings at 6-2. The first-ever conference meeting between the Commonwealth foes will leave the winner in a share of first place in the conference.
2) Longwood has been a strong second-half team this season, with seven of its nine victories coming after the Lancers trailed at halftime. Meanwhile, Liberty has been good at
holding leads. The Lady Flames are 12-1 this year when leading at intermission.
3) The Lancers top the Big South and rank No. 44 nationally with 6.6 three-pointers made
per game. Liberty has been good at defending the three-point shot this season, currently
ranking No. 32 in the nation for three-point field goal percentage defense (.261).
4) Saturday’s game will feature three players who have won multiple Big South Player of
the Week awards this season, including Liberty’s Devon Brown (3) and Tolu Omotola (2)
and Longwood’s Crystal Smith (2). Meanwhile, the Lady Flames’ Ashley Rininger and the
Lancers’ Daeisha Brown have each won two Big South Freshman of the Week honors.
5) Longwood is 15-13 all-time against Liberty, but the Lady Flames have won six straight
games versus the Lancers since Longwood’s last head-to-head win on Feb. 12, 1988.

A Look Back at Liberty’s 65-58 Home Win Over Campbell
• Liberty bounced back from a loss to High Point with a 65-58 victory over Campbell, Jan.
19 at the Vines Center.
• The Lady Flames’ win was keyed by rebounding and defense. Liberty outrebounded
the Lady Camels by 27 boards (59-32), while holding Campbell to season lows in field
goal percentage (.290) and three-point field goal percentage (.118). Campbell entered the
game ranked No. 4 nationally for three-point field goal percentage.
• It was the 15th straight game that Liberty won the rebounding battle and held its opponent below 50 percent field goal shooting.
• The Lady Flames struggled shooting the ball from the field (.345) but fared well at the
free throw line, making 25 of 34 attempts for 73.5 percent.
• Led by Ashley Rininger’s 11 points, Liberty’s non-starters scored 31 points, compared to
14 for Campbell’s reserves. The Lady Flames have tallied more bench points than their
opponents in five straight games.
• Tolu Omotola led the Lady Flames in scoring (15) and tied for team-high rebounding
honors with 11 boards, recording her fifth double-double of the season and the sixth of her
career. Liberty is now 32-4 all-time when she scores in double digits.
• Devon Brown was held to single digits in the scoring column for just the second time this
season, finishing with seven points. However, she tied Omotola for the game lead with 11
boards.
• Rininger’s 11 points marked the redshirt freshman’s fourth time scoring in double figures
in the last five games.
• Carey Green returned to the sideline as Liberty’s head coach, after missing the High
Point contest due to illness.
Fabulous at the Free Throw Line
Liberty is shooting well at the free throw line during the first two games of its current homestand, hitting 78.7 percent (48-of-61) of its attempts against High Point and Campbell.
• For the season, Liberty is making 71.6 percent of its free throws, which is not far off of
the Lady Flames’ single-season record of 72.8 percent, set in 2007-08.
• Devon Brown is shooting a Big South-best 83.2 percent from the foul line this season.
That would rank her third in program history if the season ended today. Teammates Brittany Campbell (92.9 percent) and Emily Frazier (90 percent) are also shooting well from
the foul line this season but don’t have enough attempts to qualify for records.
• Emily Frazier has made 13 consecutive free throws, Katelyn Adams has connected on
eight straight free throws and Brittany Campbell has hit seven straight foul shots.
At Home on the Road?
Liberty has fared better in road games than at the Vines Center in recent weeks. The Lady
Flames have won six consecutive road contests by an average of 24.5 ppg. Meanwhile,
Liberty has dropped three of its last six home games.
Speed Limit 65
Liberty has scored 65 or more points in 13 of its 14 victories this season, continuing a
recent trend.
• The Lady Flames have won 20 straight games when reaching the 65-point mark, dating
back to last season. Liberty is also 29-1 the last 30 times it has tallied 65 or more points.
