New Employee Checklist for Supervisor
Before Date of Hire
 Order nameplate, employee nametag & business cards (if needed)
 Contact Facilities for Building Access Request, Office Sign, Office Setup & State Fleet Vehicle Requests
 Order/prepare necessary office supplies:
o Pens/Pencils, Paper pads, Sticky notes, Stapler, Tape dispenser, etc.
 Provide a phone directory
 Contact ITC for Long-Distance Code (if needed)
 Contact FMC for copier code (if needed)
 Contact ITC for phone and computer training on date of hire
 Setup PeopleSoft admin access (if necessary)
o Contact Business Office for HRMS and Finance Setup
o Contact Registrar’s Office for Campus Solutions Setup
Date of Hire
HR
 Employee meets with HR within 30 days to discuss:
o Benefits, Employee Self-Service, organizational policies, and company organization chart
 HR will send benefit information and schedule the appointment
ITC
 Take employee to get computer training (at employee desk if desktop computer)
Facilities Services
 Take employee to building to get:
o Parking permit (if desired)
o Keys
o Schedule for State Fleet Defensive Driving
Student Center
 Take employee to get ID Card
 Take employee to Sodexo to discuss meal plan options and storing money on ID Card
Supervisor
 Demonstrate for the employee how to use:
o Copier Code
o Phone Long-Distance Code
 Show employee location of items in office(s) – supplies, printers, etc.
 Discuss practical expectations with employee:
o Show-up on-time, be appropriately dressed, when/how to notify you for leave, level of
customer service, other department norms, etc.
 Instruct employee to watch Fraud video, which is sent to them by Human Resources.
 Give the employee a tour of the campus or send Human Resources a request to have a student give one.
