UNCW HOOPS HISTORY UNCW is completing its 62nd season of intercollegiate hoops and 37th season of NCAA Division I hoops. The Seahawks joined the D-I level in 1976-77 and became a member of the Colonial Athletic Association in 1984-85. POST-SEASON SUCCESS The Seahawks have appeared in four NCAA Tournaments and two NIT tourneys. UNCW won the CAA Championship in 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2006 to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament and was awarded an NIT invite in 1998 and 2001. UNCW recorded the biggest win in the school’s history on Mar. 14, 2002, when the Seahawks upset fifth-seeded Southern Cal, 93-89, in overtime at Arco Arena in Sacramento.
