Post-Award Internal Guidelines
Grant Denied
If your proposal has been denied, view it as an encouragement not a failure. As part of the
official letter of denial, you are also likely to receive specific comments regarding your
proposals. Use these comments to improve your proposal for the next grant cycle and your
chances of success will increase considerably. Be sure to notify the Grants Office, McFarland
211B about the funding agency's decision. The Grants Office will notify the necessary
personnel.
Grant Awarded
Forward a copy of the official award document to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the
Vice President for Business Affairs, and the Grants Manager.
The following will be completed:
1. If grant or budget revisions are necessary they will be made before the implementation
of the grant.
2. Signoff on grant award will be completed by designated signor for the institution.
3. Fiscal management - Internal Review and Reporting requirements will be set up.
The Principal Investigator is responsible for following all OMB circulars (OMB A-21; OMB A-110,
and OMB A-133), federal laws, state laws and university guidelines, implementing the project,
and insuring the programmatic and fiscal compliance for the project. In addition the PI must
comply with the grant reporting guidelines as set forth by the granting agency.
Any required Annual Reports must also be submitted to the Grants Office. Failure to comply
with this requirement will compromise the University’s eligibility for future grant funding.
