End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco
Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) 5.0

Cisco® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco Gateway GPRS
Support Node (GGSN) 5.0. The last day to order the Cisco Gateway GPRS Support Node
(GGSN) 5.0 is July 16, 2007. Customers with active service contracts will continue to
receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1
of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for
the Cisco Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) 5.0. Table 2 lists the product part
numbers affected by this announcement.

For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support
contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract
or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support
contract.

The last date to receive service and support for the product. After this
date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product
becomes obsolete.

Product Migration Options
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) 6.0 or
later. This newer release supports all of the features in the Cisco GGSN 5.0 release and adds
RADIUS-based Virtual APN Provisioning, High-Speed Downlink Packet Access
QoS/Accounting/Charging extensions, multiple new IEs in PDP Context Create/Delete Messages,
support for the Cisco Persistent Storage Device for CDR protection, GTP-Server Load Balancer

enhancements (with Cisco Exchange Director load balancer), early IMS support with P-CSCF
discovery, enhancements to the basic CLI interface and various updates to maintain conformance
with key 3GPP standards. To upgrade existing GGSN 5.0 installations to GGSN 6.0, there are
multiple upgrade paths available. If you are using a complete MWAM cards (multiple images), SCSVC-GG60UBB= is a right-to-use license for a GGSN 5.0 (any) -> GGSN 6.0 (basic) for up to 300k
subscribers per card. If premium features are desired, FL-PREMUPG-GGSN upgrades this card
to premium use. If you are using individual images (MWAM based), SC-SVC-GG60UBBIM= is a
right to use license for a GGSN 5.0 (any) single image -> GGSN 6.0 (basic) single image for up to
60k subscribers per image. If premium features are desired, FL-PREMUPSIM-GGSN upgrades
this to premium use. If you are using 7200-based GGSN 5.0 software, S72AUW-12402XB=
(basic), S72AK9UW-12402XB= (3DES), S72AK8UW-12402XB= (IPsec) are the appropriate
GGSN 5.0 -> GGSN 6.0 upgrades.
