Today’s Game
Liberty (13-5, 5-1 Big South) will tip off a three-game homestand with a rematch of the
2012 Big South Championship title contest against High Point (10-7, 4-2 Big South). Tipoff
is slated for 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The “Starting Five” - Today’s Top Storylines
1) Thursday’s contest will be the first matchup between Liberty and High Point since the
two teams squared off in the 2012 Big South Women’s Basketball Championship title
game. The Lady Flames prevailed by an 81-73 count in that contest, winning their 14th
Big South title in the last 16 years. Liberty and High Point have gotten familiar with one
another in recent years, facing off nine times since the start of the 2009-10 season. The
Lady Flames have won eight of those nine contests.
2) The last two Liberty-High Point matchups at the Vines Center have been decided by a
total of five points. Last season, the Panthers were the only visiting Big South team to win
in Lynchburg, coming away with a 73-69 overtime victory on Jan. 7, 2012.

• Thursday’s game will be a rematch of the 2012 Big South Championship title game,
which Liberty won by an 81-73 count at High Point. The Lady Flames have eliminated the
Panthers from the Big South Championship in each of the last three seasons.
• Liberty, which ranks No. 1 in the nation for rebound margin at +17.3, will face the nation’s
second-ranked rebounder in High Point junior Cheyenne Parker (13.6 rpg). Last year,
Parker averaged 13.7 rpg against the Lady Flames, but Liberty won the team rebounding
battle versus High Point by an average of 10.0 rpg.
• High Point has played its last 13 games without preseason All-Big South guard Erin
Reynolds, due to injury. She averaged 19.3 ppg in three meetings with Liberty a season
ago.
• High Point was the only visiting Big South team to win at Liberty in 2011-12, posting a
73-69 overtime victory on Jan. 7, 2012. Erin Reynolds scored 13 of her 21 points during

• Liberty never trailed during Saturday’s 76-48 victory at Coastal Carolina, after holding
the Chanticleers scoreless for the first 6:57 of the game and jumping out to a 21-2 lead.
• The Lady Flames have now won three straight games overall, six consecutive road
games and 39 straight matchups against Coastal Carolina. The streak of 39 consecutive
wins over the Chanticleers is tied for the second-longest active string of victories against
a single opponent in NCAA Division I women’s basketball.
• Combined with Presbyterian College’s loss to Radford, Liberty’s victory moved the Lady
Flames into a tie for first place in the Big South standings with the Blue Hose.
• Liberty was victorious in its first visit to The HTC Center, which will host the 2013 Big
South Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships in March. It was only the third
game the Chanticleers have lost in their new home facility.
• The 28-point loss was the largest margin of defeat for Coastal Carolina this season,
eclipsing a 26-point setback to North Carolina on Dec. 16.
• For the 13th straight game, Liberty outrebounded its opponent (46-28) and kept its foe
below 50 percent field goal shooting (33.9 percent).
• Devon Brown led all players in both points (15) and rebounds (8), moving into ninth place
on the Big South all-time scoring list with 1,752 career points.
• Tolu Omotola finished with 12 points, six rebounds, a career-high four blocked shots and
a team-high three steals.
• Brittany Campbell scored in double figures for the second straight game, ending the
game with 10 points. She made all six of her free throw attempts.
• Ashley Rininger reached double digits in the scoring column for the third game in a row,
tallying all 10 of her points during the first half as Liberty raced out to a 48-19 lead.
• Eleven different players scored points for the Lady Flames, who tallied 28 bench points.
Scoreless Streak
Liberty held opponents scoreless for a period of 18:02 in its last two games, including the
last 11:09 of the game at Charleston Southern (Jan. 10) and the first 6:53 of the contest
at Coastal Carolina (Jan. 12). The Lady Flames outscored their opponents, 42-0, during
the span.
Heart Pounders Against High Point
High Point’s last two visits to the Vines Center have both gone down to the wire, with the
pair of games being decided by a total of five points.
• Last season (Jan. 7, 2012), Erin Reynolds sent the game to overtime with a three-pointer
with 16.5 seconds left. High Point then prevailed by a 73-69 score.
• On Feb. 5, 2011, Devon Brown blocked Reynolds’ layup attempt in the closing seconds
to preserve a 58-57 Liberty victory.

recent trend.
