HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2013 Pat McDonald is a 1978 graduate of Saint Bonaventure High School where he participated in three sports as a player and also coached two sports. Golf was the sport in which he made an immediate impact as a freshman after shooting 64 in a practice round at Buenaventura Golf Course. He played all four years on the Varsity Team and in addition to being the Team Captain in 1975, 1976, and 1977, he was named the MVP in 1976, 1977, and 1978. Pat was All Tri-Valley League 1st team selection in 1976, 1977, and 1978 and was a player/coach in 1977 and 1978. After graduation he coached the Seraphs golf team to Tri-Valley League titles in 1980 and 1981 and Desert High School Invitational titles in 1979, 1980, and 1981. He won the Coaches Division of the Invitational all three years and went on to play at Ventura College where he was named MVP and All Western State Conference in 1980. Pat was also a three year Varsity Basketball player, which was his favorite sport. He was selected to the All Tri-Valley League Team both his junior and senior years. As a senior he scored 38 points twice and led the Tri-Valley League in scoring with a 19.6 average. He was the 7th leading scorer in Ventura County and an All County Team selection. Pat coached the St. Bonaventure Frosh-Soph team in 1981 to a League Championship with a 9-1 record, 15-5 overall. In 1982 he coached the Junior Varsity Team and won the league title with an 8-2 record, 14-6 overall. Unable to play baseball his first three years of school because of golf, Pat represented Saint Bonaventure at the Tri Valley League coaches meeting and was able to convince the golf coaches to change the day of golf matches so he could play both sports. Playing his senior year, Pat started at 3rd base and pitched. In 1981 Pat was the 14th ranked amateur golfer in the state of California. In 1982 he turned professional and began working and playing competitively throughout Southern California. After moving back to Ventura in 1985 Pat became a licensed contractor. He then resumed playing competitive golf in local tournaments as an amateur. He has won titles in the Los Angeles City Championship, the Ojai City Championship (twice), the Ventura City (twice) and the Ventura County Championship. He has also won multiple Men’s Club Championships at Olivas Park, River Ridge, and Saticoy Country Club. He still holds the course record at Saticoy Country Club after shooting 63 in a tournament round in 2000. His accomplishments in golf include well over 100 championship titles. Pat works as a general contractor and lives in Ventura County with his wife Susan and son Turner, who is a junior at Saint Bonaventure and pitches on the Varsity Baseball Team. Pat enjoys dedicating his time to his alma mater for the benefit of the baseball team and his son, by maintaining the baseball facility and the infield. Pat is honored to be presented tonight by his former coach Ken Duncan who was both a Varsity Basketball Coach and an Assistant Varsity Football Coach at Saint Bonaventure.
