Brandon Mascorro is a 2002 graduate of Saint Bonaventure. Brandon played 4 years of Football (1 Junior Varsity, 3 Varsity) under
Coach Jon Mack and 4 years of Varsity Baseball under Coaches Dennis Johnson and Raul Camacho. Brandon was the only 2 way
starter for the Seraphs where he started at Free Safety and Wide Receiver. The Seraphs posted a 14-0 record his Sophomore, Junior
and Senior seasons. Each year the Seraphs won the Tri-Valley League and CIF Southern Section Championships finishing his football career with a record of 42-0. During his football career Brandon was elected All Tri-Valley League 1st Team and All-County 1st team
in 1999, 2000, and 2001. In 2001 Brandon was elected as a Captain for the Seraphs, 2 nd Team All-State, All CIF-Southern Section,
CIF Southern Section Player of the Year and a recipient of the 2001 Jerry Dann Award.
In Baseball, Brandon was the starting shortstop for the Seraphs from his Freshman to Senior year. During his career Brandon led his
team to 3 straight CIF Southern Section semi-finals appearances, 1 quarter-finals appearance and a Tri-Valley League title in 2000.
Brandon was elected All-Tri Valley League 1st Team and All Ventura County 1st Team in 3 of his 4 years. In 2002 he received All CIF
and All State Honors and was named SBHS MVP. Brandon additionally received awards for Best Defensive Player in 2000 and the
SBHS Silver Slugger award in 2001 and 2002. Brandon was also named Captain of the baseball team and states “It is the greatest
honor one can receive”.
At the time of his graduation, Brandon was top 5 in nearly every hitting category for a single season and career. At graduation he held records for; most hits in a season (42) in 2002 and (40) in 2001, most runs scored in a season (34) in 2002, .562 On Base Percentage in
2001, most doubles in a season (12, 11, 10) in 2001, 2002, and 1999. At graduation his career records were #1 in games played (104) now
#3 all time, #1 in At Bats (349), #1 in hits (138) now #2 all time, #1 in runs (103) now #2 all time, #1 in walks (53), #1 in singles (192) now #2
all time, #1 in doubles (38), #1 in stolen bases (54) now #2 all time, #3 in Homeruns (6)now #8 all time and #3 in RBI’s (72) now #7 all time.
Brandon finished his baseball career with .395 batting average and batting .488 in his senior season. He capped off his high school baseball
career as he did his football one by participating in the Ventura County All-Star game becoming one of the few who played in both AllStar games as a senior.
After graduating from St. Bonaventure High School, Brandon received a football scholarship to the University of Idaho where he played
4 years and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Brandon now serves our community as a Peace Officer and is looking
to give back to the community where he was raised.
He is being presented tonight by his former coach Raul Camacho
