David Bernal is a 1997 graduate of Saint Bonaventure High School. He was a four-year Varsity starter and a letter winner in basketball. David was a 3 time All Tri Valley League selection, 3 time All County
Team selection, 3 time All CIF Selection, 3 time All State selection and was a preseason All American
his senior year. As a defensive lineman, David scored 4 touchdowns and led various teams throughout his
four-year career in several defensive categories, making him the defensive player of the year in 1996. He
was a one of the most dominant defensive players in the state his senior year as he led the Seraphs defense to a CIF title under Coach Jon Mack. David Bernal will go down as one of the most dominant defensive players in Saint Bonaventure history. He played amongst other Hall of Famers such as Teohua
Sanchez, and Pepe Villaseñor.
David continued on to play at Moorpark Community College where he earned All Conference honors.
He then concluded his athletic career at the University of Sioux Falls South Dakota where he earned
player of the game recognition throughout their playoff run in 2001where he totaled 9 sacks and went on
to play in the NAIA National Championship. David now resides in Oxnard with his wife Tina Bernal
and children Martin Hernandez, Mariah Bernal, and David Bernal. David spends his time watching his
children excel at sports and playing poker with friends
