SAINT BONAVENTURE HIGH SCHOOL PROFILE
SCHOOL COMMUNITY
St. Bonaventure High School was founded on the spiritual ideals of St. Francis of Assisi and the academic fervor of its namesake, St.
Bonaventure. We strive to insı ll the values emphasized by St. Francis in an academic seı ng that prepares and moı vates young
people commiı ed to the Chrisı an way of life. St. Bonaventure High School is owned by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los
Angeles and is fully accredited by the Western Associaı on of Schools and Colleges. The school is comprehensive in its approach,
with an emphasis on a college preparatory curriculum. We serve a large geographical area that includes all communiı es located in
Ventura County. Currently the school populaı on is 41% Caucasian, 35% Hispanic, 15% Mulı -Racial, 4% Asian/Pacific Islander, 3%
African American and 2% Naı ve American.
The faculty is comprised of 44 staff members, over 50% of whom have degrees that are Master’s level or higher. Three counselors
and Deacon Huntley provide support and help guide student academic, personal and spiritual development.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
St. Bonaventure High School provides a challenging, comprehensive and complete learning environment for each student. Classes
meet four ı mes a week according to a modified block schedule. Students aı end six 50 minute periods Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and three 95 minute periods on Wednesday and Thursday. Religion classes are required every semester for all students. The
graduaı on requirements are aligned with the California State University and University of California systems. This approach fulfills
the philosophy and mission of Saint Bonaventure High School, strengthens the Catholic idenı ty of the school and supports student
achievement of Expected School-wide Learning Results.
Each student is required to take thirty credits per semester. To receive a diploma a student must earn a total of 240 credits
