FACULTY NEWS
Lessons from Lilongwe: A Counselor Goes Abroad
Dr. Leah Clarke, faculty member in Messiah’s Graduate Counseling Program, recently went to Malawi
with a delegation of US counselors to support counseling in southern Africa. Her experiences ranged
from meeting one of Africa’s three female presidents to providing grief education to secondary
school students. On May 1, Dr. Clarke shared her
reflections and discussed opportunities for helping
professionals to be trained or serve abroad.

Future Growth
As the Counseling Program continues to grow, we will be looking to add new full-time
faculty. We would welcome referrals if you know of qualified individuals who would
be interested in teaching in the Graduate Counseling Program at Messiah College. To
meet our qualifications, the individual would need a Ph.D. in Counselor Education.
Send any questions or suggestions to Dr. John Addleman at [email protected].
Dr. Carol McGinnis’ article was selected for
the Spring 2014 SACES newsletter:
“Creating Fictional Clients for Diversity-Related Theoretical
Case Conceptualization”
