2
Cisco Prime Collaboration Licensing
Cisco Prime Collaboration is a licensed software product that is secured to the MAC of the virtual machine.
The Cisco Prime Collaboration license enables the features and endpoint quantities for the Cisco Prime
Collaboration application that you choose to install. You can order license based on the collaboration
management options required, and the quantity of the endpoints.
• Access to the Software Image, PAK, and License File, page 5
• Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Standard, page 6
• Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced Licensing, page 6
• Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance Licensing, page 7
• Cisco Prime Collaboration Analytics Licensing, page 7
• Endpoints and Contact Center Agents Count, page 8
Access to the Software Image, PAK, and License File
The product numbers ordered for Cisco Prime Collaboration are: R-xxx and L-xxx. When you order the
product numbers for Cisco Prime Collaboration, an email is sent to your ship-to email address. This email
contains the instructions on how you can access the Cisco eDelivery site so that you can download the software
images and license Product Authorization Keys (PAKs). The software image is downloaded and installed on
the virtual machine. The license PAK ID from the ESD site allows you to access the Cisco Licensing Site to
associate the virtual machine MAC address to a license key or keys that are then installed on the virtual
machine(s). These license keys activate the Cisco Prime Collaboration software to be used in a production
environment. These license keys together also convert a trial installation into a production environment. Only
(1) R-xxx type license is required for each Cisco Prime Collaboration installation.
Note
The PAK is used to log in to the Cisco software site and has a virtual machine MAC address associated
to it. The PAK is emailed to you, and a license file is created for you to download. Cisco Prime
Collaboration Assurance requires individual license files. After you download the license files, register
them with the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance servers.
Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance and Analytics Install and Upgrade Guide - 11.x
5
Cisco Prime Collaboration Licensing
Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Standard
Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Standard
Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Standard does not require a license.
If you choose to install Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance in the Standard mode, it is directly deployed in
the Enterprise mode. The MSP mode or Enterprise mode deployment selection is available only when you
choose to install Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance in the Advanced mode. Cisco Prime Collaboration
Analytics and Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance are not supported in the Standard mode.
For details on the differences between the Standard and Advanced versions of Cisco Prime Collaboration
Assurance, see the Cisco Prime Collaboration - Standard and Advanced Offerings.
Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced Licensing
With Assurance Advanced option, you can manage Cisco voice and video Collaboration Systems through a
single, consolidated view. It includes continuous, real-time monitoring and advanced troubleshooting tools
for Cisco Collaboration applications and endpoints, such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco
TelePresence Video Communication Server(Cisco VCS), Cisco TelePresence, and so on.
The two modes of installations are—Standard and Evaluation or Advanced. To learn more about Standard
and Advanced install modes, see Deployment Models—Standard and Advanced, on page 18.
The quantity of the endpoints determines the number of licenses that you need to purchase to manage your
network.
Along with the total number of endpoints, you must also consider the system capacity parameters, such as
the number of each supported endpoint types, and CDR limits, to choose the most suitable OVA for your
deployment.
For more information on system capacity parameters for Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced
11.0, see the System Capacity for Cisco Prime Collaboration wiki.
For more information on system capacity parameters for Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced
11.1, see the System Capacity for Cisco Prime Collaboration wiki.
The Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Image (R-PC-xxxx) license is required to activate Cisco Prime
Collaboration in a production network. You must order one license for each server. A new license is required
for each major upgrade and is included in the upgrade parts and the Product Upgrade Tool entitlements.
You can purchase scale licenses based on the endpoints that you want to manage. For more information on
the scale licenses and part numbers in Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.0, see Cisco Prime Collaboration Ordering
Guide , in Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.1, see Cisco Prime Collaboration Ordering Guide. You must have
Cisco partner privilege to access the Ordering Guide.
Note
All Unified CM registered endpoints in a specific cluster must be managed in Cisco Prime Collaboration
Assurance to provide the statistics data to support all monitoring, testing, and reporting features in Cisco
Prime Collaboration Assurance and Analytics; for example, statistics from the Unified CM Publisher CDR
are required to compute route group utilization, Severely Conceal Seconds Ratio (SCSR)(%), and call
failure measurements. When the Unified CM publisher is discovered, all endpoints (including phones)
registered with it are discovered.

Cisco Prime Collaboration Licensing
Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance Licensing
To add Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance license file, go to System Administration > License
Management. For more information in Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.0, see the Add and Delete a License
File section of “Manage Licenses” chapter in the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Guide - Advanced.
For more information in Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.1, see the Add and Delete a License File section of
“Manage Licenses” chapter in the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Guide - Advanced.
Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance Licensing
Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance requires the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance
Advanced license. The Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance licensing is based on the number
of concurrent Unified Contact Center Enterprise (Unified CCE) agents logged in. Apply the Cisco Prime
Collaboration Contact Center Assurance license only after adding the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance
Advanced license.
Cisco Prime Collaboration polls the number of agents logged in to the Unified CCE every 30 minutes. If the
number of agents logged in exceeds the permitted number mentioned in the license file, the system displays
a popup window with a warning message.
Cisco Prime Collaboration raises one violation per day irrespective of the number of warning popup windows
displayed. If there are 10 such violations within the 30-day period, then your license expires within the next
30 days of receiving the tenth violation.
If you add the license file for Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced but not for Cisco Prime
Collaboration Contact Center Assurance, you can access the features for Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact
Center Assurance only until the evaluation expiry or purchase of license. After the evaluation period for Cisco
Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced expires, you can access Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance
Standard mode only.
Upon license expiry, the Unified CCE infrastructure devices are not displayed in the UC Performance dashboard,
Threshold Rules, and Correlation Rules windows. You cannot view the Contact Center Topology page. To
continue using these features, purchase the required number of Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center
concurrent agent licenses. You can view the license details for Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center
Assurance by navigating to the System Administration > License Management page.
For details on the features that are enhanced after you add the Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center
Assurance license 11.0, see the "Overview of Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance" chapter
in Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance Guide.
For details on the features that are enhanced after you add the Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center
Assurance license 11.1, see the Overview of Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance chapter
in Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance Guide.
The number of agents that you can manage after you purchase a license remains the same as the Evaluation
mode. For more information, see Endpoints and Contact Center Agents Count section.
Cisco Prime Collaboration Analytics Licensing
Cisco Prime Collaboration Analytics is supported only in the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced
deployment. Apply the Cisco Prime Collaboration Analytics license after adding the Cisco Prime Collaboration
Assurance Advanced license.
The total number of Cisco Prime Collaboration Analytics scale licenses obtained must be greater than or equal
to the total number of scale licenses you have for Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced. For example,

7
Cisco Prime Collaboration Licensing
Endpoints and Contact Center Agents Count
if you are managing 1000 endpoints in Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced, you must have Cisco
Prime Collaboration Analytics license for 1000 or more endpoints.
Endpoints and Contact Center Agents Count
The number of endpoints and agents that are supported in Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance - Advanced
(including Cisco Prime Collaboration Analytics and Contact Center Assurance) depends on the OVA size.
The Cisco Prime Collaboration Analytics endpoints count must be greater than or equal to the total number
of endpoints you have in Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance - Advanced.
You can manage the following endpoint and agent quantities in the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced and Cisco Prime Collaboration Contact Center Assurance. These numbers are applicable for

Number of Servers
Number of Servers
To install Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance - Standard or Advanced (without Cisco Prime Collaboration
Analytics), you need only one virtual machine. If you want to enable Cisco Prime Collaboration Analytics
during the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Advanced installation, the number of virtual machines that
are required to install Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance depends on the number of endpoints that you
want to manage in Cisco Prime Collaboration Analytics:
• If you have fewer than or equal to 80,000 endpoints (small, medium, and large deployment models),
you need one virtual machine where you can install both the database and application. To learn about
configuring Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance for small, medium, and large deployment models,
see Configure Small, Medium, and Large Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance OVA, on page 25.
• If you have more than 80,000 endpoints (very large deployment model), you need two virtual machines
to install the database and application separately on each machine. To learn about configuring Cisco
Prime Collaboration Assurance for very large deployment model, see Configure Very Large Cisco Prime
Collaboration Assurance OVA File.
Before installing the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance, ensure that you know the IP addresses for
each of the virtual machines.

• The IOPS measurements were taken using VMWare IO Analyser tool, available at: .
• vCPU speed depends on the Cisco UCS server or the virtualized hardware.
• We do not support oversubscribing server parameters (not using a 1:1 ratio of physical to virtual
resources), such as, vCPU and memory.
Recommendations to Improve IOPS:
• RAID Configuration: RAID 10 provides better write performance and provides redundancy.
• Data store configuration: Dedicated data store for all ova types.
• Use SSDs or 15K RPM SAS disks for 80K and 150K deployments.
• Use Fibre Channel-SAN storage with dedicated LUN with IOPS mentioned in the preceding table.

Plan for Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance
Upgrade
The supported upgrade versions are listed in the following table:
Before you upgrade to Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.0 or later, you must know the supported upgrade versions
and virtual machine requirements for Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.0 and later. For details on virtual machine
requirements for Cisco Prime Collaboration, see Virtual Machine Requirements for Cisco Prime Collaboration
Assurance , on page 14.
Note
For Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance 11.0 and later, Small OVA (Assurance & Analytics) requires
250-GB disk space (100 GB more than what was required for the same Small OVA in Cisco Prime
Collaboration Assurance versions 10.5.1 and 10.6). Thus to upgrade to the Cisco Prime Collaboration
Assurance 11.0 and later, Small OVA (Assurance & Analytics) increase the disk size by adding a new
vDisk of size equal to 100-GB. Refer to VMware documentation to upgrade or add the hardware resources.

Upgrade Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance
• Upgrade Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance, page 47

Upgrade Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance
You can upgrade to Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.0 and later from a small, medium, large, or very large
deployment using the appropriate upgrade application bundle available on Cisco.com.
For Cisco Prime Collaboration Release 11.1 and earlier
There are two separate upgrade application bundles available on Cisco.com:
• Application bundle for small, medium and large deployment.
• Application bundle for very large deployment.
Prerequisites
• You must review the System Requirements—Server and Client Machine Requirements section and the
Prerequisites sections under the respective sections, before you perform an upgrade.
• We recommend that you take a full backup of your machine, and/or the OVA snapshot. If you do not
take a backup, you cannot bring back your old system intact if there is an upgrade failure, since rollback
is not possible.
• Synthetic Test Center
For Cisco Prime Collaboration Release 11.1 and earlier
Before performing an upgrade from 11.0 to 11.1, you must export the Synthetic Tests under Home >
Synthetic Test Center > UC Application Synthetic Test from the 11.0 server and import the exported
Synthetic Tests to 11.1 server after the upgrade .
Before performing an upgrade from 11.0 to 11.5, you must export the Synthetic Tests under from the
11.0 server and import the exported Synthetic Tests to 11.5 server after the upgrade .
Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance and Analytics Install and Upgrade Guide - 11.x
47
Upgrade Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance
Important Notes
• While upgrading to Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.0 and later in very large deployment, first you must
upgrade the database server and then upgrade the application server. To upgrade the database server
follow the steps (Step2—Step10) in the section Perform a Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Upgrade
(Includes Analytics) , on page 49.
• We do not recommend that you upgrade from Cisco Prime Collaboration 9.x or 10.x to Cisco Prime
Collaboration 11.0 SP1 directly. You must first upgrade from Cisco Prime Collaboration 9.x or 10.x to
Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.0 and then to Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.0 SP1.
• We do not recommend that you upgrade directly to a different Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment
model than what you currently have in Cisco Prime Collaboration 10.x , for instance, from Cisco Prime
Collaboration 10.x small deployment model to Cisco Prime Collaboration medium deployment model.
For example, the recommended path to upgrade from a Cisco Prime Collaboration 10.x small deployment
model to Cisco Prime Collaboration medium deployment model is:
Move from Cisco Prime Collaboration 10.x small deployment model to Cisco Prime Collaboration
10.x medium deployment model, and then upgrade to Cisco Prime Collaboration medium.
Or
Upgrade to Cisco Prime Collaboration small deployment model, and then move to Cisco Prime
Collaboration medium. See the Deploy and Configure Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance for
details about the procedure to move from one deployment model to another within a version.
• The Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance 11.0 and later, Small OVA (Assurance & Analytics) requires
You must execute the tuning script to assign newly added disk space to
various partitions and TAC assistance is required for executing the tuning script. For more information
on the tuning script, see Upgrade Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Deployment Model, on page
71.
Caution
We recommend that you take a snapshot of the VMware instance before you start the upgrade so that you
have a clean backup in place to be used if the database is corrupted during the upgrade.
Before you take a snapshot of the VM instance:
1 Stop the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance services (log in as admin using SSH with port 26):
application stop cpcm
2 Take the snapshot of the VMware instance.
3 Start the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance services (log in as admin using SSH with port 26):
application start cpcm

Perform a Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Upgrade (Includes Analytics)
Perform a Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Upgrade (Includes Analytics)
To upgrade to Cisco Prime Collaboration 11.0 or later Assurance, ensure that you have reviewed the
prerequisites, and then perform the following steps:
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
Step 4
Step 5
Step 6
Shut down the Cisco Prime Collaboration 10.x,11.0, or 11.1 virtual machine, and then update the CPU and RAM settings
to ensure that you meet the system requirements. See the prerequisites in Upgrade Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance.
Download the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance application bundle from Cisco.com and place that application bundle
on an FTP/SFTP server.
Verify whether the Message Digest 5 (MD5) checksum of the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance application bundle
matches with the value in the download site.
To view the MD5 checksum of the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance application bundle available in Cisco.com site,
hover your mouse pointer on the filename.
Turn on the Cisco Prime Collaboration 10.x, 11.0, or 11.1 virtual machine.
Log in to the Cisco Prime Collaboration server as the administrator through the virtual machine console using the vSphere
Client.
Create a repository.
admin# configure terminal
admin(config)# repository repository name
repository name is the name of repository that you create.
Step 7
Link the URL for FTP server directory with locally created repository.
• admin(config-Repository)# url ftp://<ftpserverip>/directory (for example)
• admin(config-Repository)# user admin password plain cisco (for example)
Step 8
Stop the services. As the admin user, enter the following commands:
admin# application stop cpcm
Wait approximately 10 to 15 minutes for all the processes to stop, after which you receive a message indicating the
successful completion of the command. To confirm if the processes have stopped, run the command show application
status cpcm.
Step 9
Upgrade the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance application.
application upgrade <application bundle name><repository name>
• application bundle name—The application bundle name, for example, PCAssurance-appbundle-version
number.xxxx.x86_64.tar.gz
• repository name—Name of the repository where you have placed the application bundle.
For example, if the repository name is test, run the following:
admin# application upgrade PCAssurance-appbundle-version number.xxxx.x86_64.tar.gz test
Step 10
Enter yes to save the current ADE-OS running configuration.
The duration of the upgrade process depends on the system data and the deployment model. The upgrade process can
take approximately 30 minutes for small deployment model, and up to 4.5 hours for a very large deployment model.
Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance and Analytics Install and Upgrade Guide - 11.x
49

Troubleshooting
Upgrade Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Deployment Model
The parameters in the COMMAND column are the processes that are running on the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance
server (Standard/Advanced). If you do not see all of these processes running, enter the following commands to restart
the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance services:
<hostname>/admin#application stop cpcm
<hostname>/admin#application start cpcm
The application start cpcm/cpcmcontrol.sh start takes 10 to 15 minutes for
execution and application stop cpcm/cpcmcontrol.sh stop takes 10 minutes.
Step 3
Repeat Step 2 and check whether all the processes are running.
If all the required processes are still not running on the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance server or if you are unable
to access the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance URL, contact TAC team.
If all the processes are running, see Get Started with Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance, on page 30.
Upgrade Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance Deployment
Model
To upgrade Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance deployment model, first upgrade your hardware resources,
such as, vRAM, vCPU, and vDisk. You must increase the disk size by adding a new vDisk of size equal to
the required extra size. See the VMware documentation to upgrade or add the hardware resources.
Note
• Do not select existing vDisk and increase its size. Add a new vDisk.
• If you are using Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance 10.6 or later release and/or Cisco Prime
Collaboration Analytics 10.6 or later release, you must contact Cisco TAC team to get the root access
to the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance server. The root access enables you to run the tuning
script.
You must log in as root user and upgrade the Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance deployment model to
medium, large, or very large using the following tuning script.
For Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance version 10.5 or later:
# /opt/emms/emsam/bin/newcpcmtuning.sh
From the options displayed, choose the deployment model (excluding option 1) that you wish to upgrade to,
and then select Y to proceed with upgrading or N to reselect the deployment model.

admin# configure
admin (config)# interface GigabitEthernet 1 (Note that the first interface is GigabitEthernet 0)
admin(config-GigabitEthernet)# ip address <ip address> <net mask> admin (config-GigabitEthernet)
# exit
Configure the IP routes to the two different gateways:
admin (config)# ip route <network addr> <net mask> <route-specific gateway1>
admin (config)# ip route <network addr> <net mask> <route-specific gateway2> ……
Change the default route (0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0) to the appropriate gateway if needed.
