Gigi Lo

Shadow-boxing trainer – Mrs. Chan
That is 4th October. Gigi and Bonnie had gone to the Victoria Park, to
have an interview on the trainer of shadow-boxing(舞扇). Fortunately, we
could find the trainer. And she is called Mrs. Chan.
It was about 8:30 in the morning. Mrs. Chan was dancing with her
students. They hold the fans on the right hand and a handkerchief on the left
hand. And were dancing with the music. All the students were following Mrs.
Chan. We thought that this activity (occupation) was very interesting and
funny. There were about 10 to 20 people, and they were all around 40-55
years old. Besides, they will come and learn how to dance every morning from
7:30 to 9:15. Also, we were surprised that the trainer had taught for more
than twenty years!
However, Mrs. Chan was living near Victoria Park, so she came to teach
in here but not other places. Anyway, she said that she had been teaching
people shadow-boxing for about twenty years! And Mrs. Chan will teach
people with free of charge! She would teach the one who is interested in it,
and will teach the students personally if they had any difficulties. She said she
would continue to teach this kind of occupation, shadow-boxing, too. It is
because this activity can make her body healthier.
Lastly, when we were interviewing Mrs. Chan, a woman called Mrs. Lo
was very energetic! Mrs. Chan and Mrs. Lo were very, very willing to answer
our questions. Also, Mrs. Chan’s classmates were very exciting with the
interview too. They were very glad to take a photo with us (as follows).

A TAILOR -
MR. WONG
Samantha and Karen went to a tailor shop in Wanchai and had done an
interview with the shopkeeper -------- Mr. Wong.
Mr. Wong is a king, old man. When he was young, he did not have a chance
to study. Therefore, he could not find a job easily. Finally, he decided to learn a
skill to earn for his living. He chose tailor because this was a flourishing job and
it could earn a lot of income at that period. He found a teacher to teach him
tailoring. After finishing the studies, he used up all of his saving to run a store
for tailoring and selling the suits for the customers. Including the studying
process, he had started his job for forty-six years!
During these years, he had met a lot of different kind of people. And,
tailoring is his life. Everyday he works, sleeps and eats with his tailoring
apparatus.
A few customers always dissatisfy with Mr. Wong’s finished works, and ask
him to do the amendments again and again. These people make Mr. Wong feels
a little bit upset.
However, he still smiles and listens to the customers patiently. He will
follow the demands of the customers by fulfilling his duties, because Mr. Wong
loves to see the customers’ s face full with smiles and satisfy after received the
suits made by himself.
Unfortunately, Mr. Wong’s shop is going to close. It is because every suit
that made by him, he would ask the costumers to pay a few thousand of money.
In past days, people would like to spent these money to make a beautiful suit,
but nowadays, the material of the suit is cheaper, the labour cost is cheaper, the
transportation cost is cheaper…All things are cheaper than his handmade suits!
So people will buy the cheaper ones to save money. Hope Mr. Wong can
continue his business!
Here is the interview with Mr. Wong:
We : Hello! We are the students of St. Francis’ Canossian College. We are going to hand
in a EPA project, would you mind to have an short interview?
Mr. Wong: Okay.
We : How can we call you?
Mr. Wong: You can call me Mr. Wong.
We : Okay, Mr. Wong, What is your major work?
Mr. Wong: You see, I am a tailor. My major work is to tailoring the suits for the costumers.
We : Why you choose this job?
Mr. Wong: When I was young, I did not have a chance to study in the school. To be a tailor,
does not need a diploma or a good result, and this job could earn many money at
that time. Therefore I choose this job and used about my entire save to buy this
shop for my business.
We : Then, how long have you been doing this job?
Mr. Wong: Including the tailor study process, it is about 46 years.
We : Well. Have you met any difficulties during these years?
Mr. Wong: Yes, some costumers always dissatisfy on my finished works, and ask me to do
the correction all the time. I don’t like their attitude.
We : I see. However, are you happy in doing this job?
Mr. Wong: Of course. Many costumers always ask me to tail the suits for them. When I see
they satisfy for my works, I feel happy too. If I kind to them, they would not
make me in trouble.
We : You are a good tailor, Mr. Wong. This is the end of our interview. Thank you for
your cooperation. Hope your will have a brisk trade. :D
Mr. Wong: You are welcome. :D
