Seiz Named NCBWA National Hitter, Conference Player of the Week
• Liberty infielder Ryan Seiz has been named the National Collegiate Baseball
Writers (NCBWA) National Hitter of the Week and was selected the Big South Conference Player of the Week for the period ending March 2.
• Seiz becomes the second Liberty hitter to receive the weekly in-season award from
the NCBWA, as OF Doug Bream was named the organization’s National Hitter of the
Week in April of 2011.
• The infielder is the first Flames’ player to earn the Big South Conference Player of the
Week award this season.
• Seiz posted a .579 batting average, scoring six times and driving in five runs during
five games, as Liberty recorded a 4-1 mark last week. He not only had a hit in each of
the Flames’ five games, but collected three three-hit games in his last four contests.
• Seiz had three doubles and a triple and belted his third home of the season, Sunday
to finish the week with a 1.000 slugging percentage. In addition, he posted a .609 on
base percentage.
Perritt Named to Preseason All-American Teams, Stopper Watch List
• Outfielder/pitcher Ashton Perritt was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers
Association (NCBWA) and the Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper
Preseason All-American teams as an utility player (two-way player).
• The reliever was listed among 50 pitchers on the 2014 NCBWA Stopper of the Year
Watch list. The award goes annually to the top closer in college baseball.
• Perritt was selected to the NCBWA’s second team and the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s third team.
• He becomes Liberty’s second player to garner Preseason All-American honors from
the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. The paper selected Aaron Grijalva as a Preseason
All-American at first base in 2008.
Toman Guides Flames to Best Division I Mark Over First Six Years
• With a .619 winning percentage, head coach Jim Toman’s Flames have posted the
highest NCAA Division I winning percentage of any head coach during his first six years
at Liberty. Toman has guided the Flames to a 223-137-1 during his tenure.
• Liberty has posted 35 or more wins in five of its six seasons under Toman.
• Toman guided the Flames to the program’s first Big South Championship since 2000
and Liberty’s first appearance in a NCAA Regional final last season.
Flames Clubhouse Report
• Join the Liberty Flames Sports Network’s Nick Pierce each week for a look at Flames
Baseball.
• The audio show is available at LibertyFlames.com each week throughout the season.
• Pierce, who brings you all the action of Liberty Flames baseball, takes a look back at

Flames.
