Croptime can help you schedule vegetable planting and harvest dates using degree-days rather than calendar day estimates from seed catalogs. Nick will introduce the project and demonstrate how to use Croptime. Bring your laptop or tablet and try using Croptime during the class! 1:00-4:00PM: Cover crops and nutrient management Nick will introduce you to cover cropping and nutrient management in vegetable rotations using the Organic Fertilizer and Cover Crop Calculator (http://smallfarms.oregonstate.edu/ calculator). He will walk you through the steps needed to interpret your soil test results, determine your fertilizer recommendation, account for cover crop nitrogen and choose the most cost-effective and balanced organic fertilizer program.
