Croptime and Cover Crop Workshop with Nick Andrews

Oregon State University Extension Small Farms
Croptime and Cover Crop
Workshop
with Nick Andrews
10:00 AM-Noon: Croptime
Learn about the new Croptime website
(http://smallfarms.oregonstate.edu/croptime). Croptime can
help you schedule vegetable planting and harvest dates using
degree-days rather than calendar day estimates from seed
catalogs. Nick will introduce the project and demonstrate how
to use Croptime. Bring your laptop or tablet and try using
Croptime during the class!
1:00-4:00PM: Cover crops and nutrient management
Nick will introduce you to cover cropping and nutrient
management in vegetable rotations using the Organic Fertilizer
and Cover Crop Calculator (http://smallfarms.oregonstate.edu/
calculator). He will walk you through the steps needed to
interpret your soil test results, determine your fertilizer
recommendation, account for cover crop nitrogen and choose
the most cost-effective and balanced organic fertilizer program.
Bring your laptop or tablet and try using the Calculator during
the class!
