A Look Back at Old Dominion
• Liberty won its fourth consecutive midweek game with a 1-0 win in 16 innings at Old
Dominion, Wednesday.
• The Flames plated the game’s lone run in the top of the 16th, when 3B Dylan Allen
drew a bases loaded walk.
• It is the longest game in program history, tying Liberty’s April 19, 2008 game in which
the Flames were edged by VMI, 6-5, in 16 innings.
• Wednesday’s game followed a 13-inning, 6-5 loss to Campbell, this past Saturday.
It is the first time since 2004 that the Flames have played in back-to-back extra inning
games.
• Reliever Shawn Clowers moved to 2-0 in the win. After taking over in the 10th inning,
Clowers retired the first 14 batters he faced, combining with starter Jared Lyons to not
allow the Monarchs a hit over a span which ran from a one-out single in the sixth to a
two-out single in the 14th. He pitched six scoreless innings, allowing two hits. He also
struck out a career-high eight batters.
• Starting pitcher Jared Lyons shut out the Monarchs during the first nine innings, the
longest outing of his career. The left-hander handcuffed the Monarchs, scattering four
hits, striking out five batters and walking one.
• 3B/SS Dalton Britt tied his career-high with four hits in the contest.
• Catcher Danny Grauer had two hits and scored the winning run, catching all 16 innings
for the Flames. Grauer extended his team-high hit streak to 10 games.
• LF Nick Lacik set a program record for at bats in a game with eight. The mark eclipses
seven at bats, previously held by 11 former Flames.
