Pie chart 1 The percentage of each type of production for parents 0.0% 13.9% Primary produciton Secondary production Tertiary production 86.1% Pie chart 2 The percentage of each type of production for grandparents 13.8% Primary produciton 10.3% Secondary production Tertiary production 75.9% EPA First Term Group Project Topic: The changes in economic structure in Hong Kong Task 6: Summary of the differences found in the two generations In pie chart 2, it shows that the number of grandparents working in primary production and secondary production is slightly less than a quarter of the total. Also, the number of grandparents working in primary production is a bit more than that working in the secondary production. About 75% of grandparents are working in the tertiary production. In pie chart 1, it shows that the number of parents working in primary production is zero. A minority of parents are working in the secondary production. A majority of parents are working in the tertiary production. These show that the tertiary production has become much more important in Hong Kong, while primary production has become much less important. EPA First Term Group Project Topic: The changes in economic structure in Hong Kong Task 7: A detailed description of an interesting occupation. Our group has selected the job of the grandpa of 5C Kathleen Mok of being a police. We think that being a policeman in the 1950s is very interesting so we found some information about it. This is the summer uniform of policeman in 1950s. This is the summer uniform of policeman after 2005. The two pictures above show that the uniform of policeman in 1950s and years after 2005 have big differences. The uniform of policeman in 1950s is light green in colour and that in 2005 is light blue and black in colour. Also, there were less equipments round the belt of the uniform in 1950s than that in 2005. This is an extract from the web page of Hong Kong Police Force. (http://www.police.gov.hk/hkp-home/english/history/history_02.htm) The above picture shows that the police force in Hong Kong in 1945-67 was not well-arranged and equipped. The police stations were mostly destroyed during the Japanese occupation. The number of policeman was not more than 2000. So, there weren’t strong and stable enough. In conclusion of the information we found, we think the Hong Kong Police Force has improved a lot in comparison with that in 1950s. The Hong Kong Police Force in 1950s was mainly formed by Indian and Chinese, who were not trained with certain skills. So they were not able to ensure safety of the public. We are glad that the Hong Kong Police Force nowadays is much more efficient and strong enough to protect us. EPA First Term Group Project Topic: The changes in economic structure in Hong Kong Task 8: Reflection of each member in the group on the difficulties, solutions, good and bad experiences, etc. during the project work. Vanessa Chung (11) : The difficulty I have met during the project is I couldn’t find students to interview. It is hard to find classmates who have not been interviewed by my group members. Nicole Leung (27) : I found difficulty in interviewing other students. Iris Mok (30) : I think our group can solve the difficulties quite efficiently. At the beginning, we had some difficulties on the time arrangement. It was because the two weeks before the project’s deadline is the common test weeks, our group mates should both put efforts on this project and the tests. And we divided our jobs clearly and we can hand in the project on time. Claudia Tse (37) : When I was asking the schoolmates for the information of their parents and grandparents, some schoolmates refused rudely and made me feel embarrassed. But most of them were willing to accept our investigation. Vivian Wong (38) : Since I am the group leader of this project, I am in charge for the division of labour. I found difficulties in the time arrangement in doing this group project as all the group mates were working hard for the tests. We could not find a time to discuss about the project at school. So we contacted with each other on the internet through messengers and that helped us a lot. I am happy that all of us could finally solve the problem of time arrangement and finish the project work well and fast. I learned that being a group leader has to willing to help my group members and be nice to them when they have problems in completing their tasks.
