Task 6
According to the data above, there aren’t any of the parents work for primary
production and less than half work for secondary production. The majority falls to
tertiary production. However the pie chart showing jobs of our grandparents is
different from that of jobs of parents’. There are about one-third of them worked for
primary production. Secondary production had a minority while tertiary production
was slightly more than half.
As a conclusion, primary production and secondary production are used to be
important but its importance has decreased due to structural change of the economy.
Conversely, tertiary production in Hong Kong becomes significant nowadays and it
probably will continue to be more and more important.
Task 7
We found the advisement placer is the most interesting occupation among all.
This is quite a unique profession/industry. They put the ads on the bus. It really
attracts quite some attention of people when the buses run here and there, especially
those ads are pretty big in size and also very colorful. According to the information
provided by the classmates, the advertisement really costs quite some and it becomes
part of the income source of the bus companies. We did a detailed interview with the
classmate about her grandfather. She told us that this job required the worker to be
very detailed-mind as the ads have to be placed at the exact position on the bus. If the
ads got a bit crooked, they had to take it out and re-do it all over again. The classmate
also said that the income of the job was not much but her grandfather loved his job
because it gave him job satisfaction and he’s very pleased when he got an ad done at
the end of the day.
I think being an advertisement placer would be really
amusing. Everybody wants to get a job which can earn high income that can improve
our living standard. However most of them are very boring. Why don’t we choose an
entertaining job so that we will be happy everyday when we go to work, such as being
an advertisement placer.
Task 8 Reflection
Elaine: Our group was bad at time management. Some of the group mates didn’t hand
in their work on time that really had affected the progress of the work. Horaine and I
have tried our best to do our job and have tried to monitor the progress of the project
to ensure it run smoothly.
Cynthia: My job is pretty easy but I’m worried about making mistakes on calculating
the percentages. I’ve checked it for more than three times. When I calculate the
numbers, I realized there was big difference of the occupations between old days and
nowadays. It was really amazing.
Rainbow: After working on this EPA project, I know more about the jobs that people
did in the past and in nowadays. I learnt more about how to divide different jobs into
primary production, secondary production and tertiary production. I also learnt to
share workload and cooperate with other teammates. I hope I can do better next time.
Frederica: I think that I haven’t cooperated enough with my classmates. And also
we didn’t distribute the work properly. I hope we can a better job in future projects!
Horaine: Through this project, I have really learned quite some skill. As I am the
group leader, I have to organize all the group activities. We have started working on
the project right after we were told. The interviews were very time-consuming as I
wanted the interviews to be done in more detailed. I saw the teammates pay great
effort on the project but some of the tasks were still done a bit wrong. I had to
correct some of the errors. I have to do it at evenings even there are tests in the next
mornings. It was really tough to be a group leader but I enjoy doing so.
