Athletics
- Wil Gamble
Annual Reports of Int~rcollegiate Athletics were initiated
by The Senate's actiol of January 15, 1970 (see Minutes 258,
p. xxiii).
Last year s reports were presented at the June
meeting with Pr o f es sof Jack Davis reporting for Men's
Intercollegiate AthIe ics and Professor Sylvia Moore for
Women's Intercollegia e Athletics.

Bylaws Committee

At its February meetilg, the Senate received from the Bylaws
Committee a recommend tion that the title Executive Secretary,
wherever it appears il the Senate's Bylaws, be changed to
Executive Vice Presid mt.
That proposal is scheduled to be
voted on at this meet ng. The original proposal is attached.
In a separate action, the Senate also received from the Bylaws
Committee a recommend tion that Article X, Section 1, be amended
to delete the provisi)n that a single Senator can defer a vote
on an original main m)tion.

Bylaws amendments mus be voted on by Ballot and require

A proposal to amend A:ticle XVI, Section 1, paragraph 1, of

The Executive Committee has referred to the Advancement of
Teaching Committee the matter of a student sponsored Bill
(S.B. 451) which would establish a "College and University
Teaching Project" (CAUT'). The committee has undertaken a
study of this matter ahd will report to the Senate Lt s
findings or recommenda ions as soon as possible.
Any
written report from th's committee will be distributed at
the March 1 meeting.

Council
Committee
Meeting
The Joint Advisory Cou~cil (representing OSU, PSU, UO, &
UO/HSC) met in Salem 01 February 15. Several key legislators were invited to participate in the meeting to discuss
matters of interest an:! concern.to faculty.
Among the topics
discussed were several items currently pending before the
Legislature, certain p iorities of the Board, and matters
of retirement and sala ies.

Paper
The Position Paper on ~aculty Salaries approved by the Senate
at its February meetin~ has been forwarded to President
MacVicar requesting th~t it be transmitted to the Chancellor
and other appropriate ~ndividuals concerned with salary matters.

Conference
Repo~t
As indicated at the Fepruary 1 Senate meeting, President Bill
Wilkins, President-Elert
Leo Parks, FEWC Chairman Fred
Obermiller, and IFS Se1ator Sally l1alueg will participate in
the Alumni Conference at Salishan Lodge on Saturday, Febru24. Relevant events a1d information from that conference
will be reported to the Senate.

Curriculum Coordinator Sandra Suttie will report on the actions
of the Chancellor and ~he State Board on Curriculum matters
reviewed by the Facultv Senate earlier this year.
