BUILD ISRAEL PALESTINE COUNCIL (BIP)
Sewerage Project in Israel and West Bank:
American Interfaith Co-investment
BUILD ISRAEL PALESTINE COUNCIL (BIP)
Goal: introduce on-theground solutions,
while building trust and
creating dignity for both
Palestinians and Israelis.
BUILD ISRAEL PALESTINE COUNCIL (BIP)
How: Go directly to the people
by providing basic services
needed on both sides,
funded by American interfaith
co-investment.
BUILD ISRAEL PALESTINE COUNCIL (BIP)
Project:
• 75% of the West Bank Does Not Have Basic Sewerage Collection
• It is also an Israeli problem, as 50 million cubic meters of
untreated sewerage flow to Israel each year through shared
water sources.
BUILD ISRAEL PALESTINE COUNCIL (BIP)
Local Example of Problem:
• In 2005, in the Palestinian village of Azmut, an
untreated sewage prevented farmers from selling
their contaminated crops, and a severe mosquito
problem and illness among nearby village
residents broke out.
• A woman from the village called life there
"terrible...as if we're living in a swamp. We can't
even eat our food."
