DREW UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR HOLOCAUST/GENOCIDE STUDY Annual Yom HaShoah Commemoration Secret Lives: Hidden Children and their Rescuers during World War II In 1939, there were 1.5 million Jewish children alive in Europe. Approximately 10 percent survived the Holocaust. Some escaped to safe shores, some survived the camps, and some eluded capture in the forests. And some were saved by non-Jewish rescuers, who at great risk to their own lives took them in as an extraordinary act of kindness. This is the story of those children and their rescuers. Film screening will be followed by a Q and A with Aviva Slesin, producer/director of the film Wednesday, April 18, 2012 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Baldwin Gymnasium ● Drew University, Madison, NJ Free and open to the community Sponsored by Joyce E.
