USC AP are low-power wireless access points that
operate in licensed spectrum to connect
standard mobile devices to a mobile operator’s network
using residential DSL or cable broadband
connections.
Note: USC AP software is not an RMS 4.0.0
component. Hence, the operator needs to download
the AP FCS builds separately.

Description
PMG DB provides a geo-spatial lookup service for PMG. It
takes a location, defined by latitude and longitude, and returns
the name of an area. PMG uses this group for automatic
assignments.
PMG DB operates on Oracle and is shipped as installation
scripts, schema files, and stored procedures. The Oracle
installation, Oracle license, and Map info file should be
provided by the operator/customer.
RMS provides the capability to send notifications to registered
subscribers. The operator has an option to configure a set of
target address for any notification. RMS can send different
types of notification to different targets. The operator can
configure the list of parameters which will be part of
notification.
In RMS, a support is added in DCC UI to allow the operator to
configure the static neighbor list of the AP. DCC UI supports
configuration of both Inter-RAT and Inter-Frequency lists on
the FAP.
It might be possible that an already commissioned device on
field needs replacement because of one of the following
reasons:
- Misbehaving device which cannot be solved using
software/firmware upgrade
- Hardware malfunctioning
RMS exposes an OSS NBI API which operator can use to
replace a device with minimal information and even option
DCC UI. RMS maintains the static config of the device.
RMS support is tested with these 3G APs:
5310 B1/2/5, 7330 B1/2/5 and USC 9330 B1/2/5, 3331 B1
Note: Closed mode is supported only for residential APs.
RMS supports AP configuration in the reserved mode.
Location verification in Reserve mode will be supported in
further releases.
Configuration template is selected based on the software
version.
The RMS can discover the capabilities of each AP including
max TX power, and make it available in the configuration
template.
The Enterprise Grid allows multiple HNBs to work in a
coordinated fashion.
- The members of a 3G AP Enterprise Grid are predefined and configured in the RMS.
- Enterprise, Site and Grid ID Configuration
- Passing the Grid ID to HNB-GW for Authentication
- Defines the AP Role: Active Entry AP, Inner AP, Idle
Entry AP. Additionally, it also defines the AP Purpose

RMS supports integration with service providers OSS/QSS
systems.
See API guide PN: OL-32399-01 for details of available
interfaces.
RMS supports ghconfiguration of DN Prefix allowing AP to
populate the DN Prefix in the alarms and in the 3GPP xml files
generated by USC AP.
RMS 4.0.0 supports integration with Cisco Prime Performance
Manager (PPM) and BAC can be integrated with Cisco Prime
Central to receive EPM MIB OIDs traps in the Prime Central
alarm browser.
For 3G APs in closed access mode, the list of approved
subscribers (white list) is obtained from the PAR and used by
the HNB GW to determine if a given UE should be allowed on
a 3G AP or not. For 3G APs in open access mode, the 3G
HNB can accept any authenticated UE, in addition to the
subscribers on a whitelist
RMS supports configuration for periodicity of uploading PM
files with minimum interval of 15 minutes.
RMS 4.0.0 is Cisco Secure Development Lifecycle (CSDL)
compliant.
RMS 4.0.0 supports up to 10K devices.
8.2. Deployment

9.1. Workaround for Known Problems – Post Installation
1. CSCuo37226 - All the devices are associated to a single femtogateway during registration if
there is only single cell pool associated to all the femtogateways.
Cause/Scenario
During device registration, Load
balancing is not happening at
femtogateway group level. Instead it is
happening at cell pool group level.
Due to this when same cell pool is
associated with more than one
femtogateway also, RMS is not load
balancing at femtogateway level and all
the devices are assigned to same femto
gateway during registration
Impact
Even though more number of
femtogateways are available in
the network, only one will be
loaded as all the devices are
associated with that
femtogateway.
Also, in case of distributed
setup where different
provisioning groups are
mapped to different
femtogateways, all the devices
gets assigned to one
provisioning group. Due to this
only DPE in one provisioning
group gets loaded.
Workaround
Have one to one mapping
for femtogateway group and
cell pool, i.e., have only one
cell pool associated to one
femtogateway. So, that on
every registration least
loaded cell pool will be
selected and based on the
cell pool selected, the
femtogateway group will be
selected.
2. CSCup66686 - CPU usage shoots up if any DCC UI operation times out during normal load.
Cause/ Scenario
If the operator tries to modify/update the
SAI Pool which is associated with the
large number of area groups (~ more
than 1000), the operation times out.
Impact
Workaround
The CPU usage of central node Restart the TomCat, so the
CPU gets freed up.
shoots up if the DCC UI
operation times out and
remains at the higher level (~
70 %)
No other user impact is seen.
3. CSCuo69727 - Serving node startup hangs intermittently during RMS installation
Cause/ Scenario
Impact
RMS installation shows
During Installation sometimes serving
node startup hangs and remains in same complete, but serving node
cannot be accessible.
state without completion for ~ 30
minutes.
4.
Workaround
To wait for some time ~ 30
minutes and then power of &
power on using Restart Guest
option in VCenter.
CSCup73347 - [Upgrade]PeriodicLogUpload is seen disabled post upgrade on DCC UI
Cause/ Scenario
Impact
Workaround
After the upgrade from RMS 3.0/RMS
3.0MR to RMS 4.0.0, on the DCC UI the
periodic log upload will be seen as
False.
It sends an incorrect information All the custom Properties set
